Spoopy Steam Game Collection

1. Depth

Are you ready to be shark bait? Depth is a fast-paced action game pitting four divers against two sharks in dark underwater environments. Once you get past the first few jumpscares, it is a surprisingly fun and challenging competitive game, making it one of my favorites on this list. Guaranteed happy fun times for people with hydrophobia/who are afraid of sharks.

2. Dead Realm

Featuring one of the spoopiest game trailers in a while, Dead Realm is a deadly game of hide and seek on steroids. Depending on the game mode, the humans either have to hide until time runs out/escape through a portal while a demonic ghost baby chases after them to rape reap their souls. Jumpscares galore make this a fun game if you play with friends.

3. Five Nights at Freddy's 4

I know what you're thinking. "Oh boy, another FNAF, rev up that autistic fanbase." This one is different from the others though: this time, you play as scared little child in his own room, and you have to be more aware of audio cues instead of camera footage. If the past three jumpscare-ridden games don't interest you, then perhaps you'd find the next one more intriguing...

4. Fingerbones

"Fingerbones connected to the... handbone, handbones connected to the... wristbone, wristbones connected to the... armbone..."

Fingerbones is a short indie horror game focusing entirely on slow, psychological horror. It's a short game - barely 20 minutes long - that focuses on painting up a disturbing narrative using the classical "scattered journal notes" with a twist. Plus, it's entirely free. If you have an hour to kill, consider picking it up.

5. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter

A first-person mystery game that focuses on exploration with occult undertones. The game story revolves around the mysterious disappearance of a boy in the town of Red Creek Valley. If you liked Twin Peaks and Alan Wake, this one is definitely worth checking out.

6. Betrayer

Looking for something more survival-horror? Betrayer is a story-driven game set almost entirely in monochrome - with the exception of a few red splotches here and there. The game takes place in 1604 on the shores of the New World, and involves the occult and otherworldly with a small dash of Far Cry.

7. Kholat

Last but not least is a game narrated by Sean Bean himself! Kholat is a survival-horror game set in the Ural mountains and revolves around a real happening known as the Dyatlov Pass Incident, where nine mountain hikers died under mysterious circumstances. It's on sale at the moment of typing, so grab it now if you want it.
