Watchtower dragon fight: Duck behind rock and lob arrows. GG
Frost troll heading up to High Hrothgar: Flames spell.
Alduin first fight: Here comes some meteors! That'll make it hard, right? lolnope.
Odahviing: Lob arrows/magic. Takes it like an idiot.
Alduin final battle: He just sits there and takes it like a bitch
Any fight in the Civil War: I AM GOD!!!
Dawnguard Lord Harkon: "Maybe if I keep moving, I won't get wrecked." lolnope
Miraak: Actually a decent fight. Too bad I was way overpowered by the time I fought him. Pic was pretty much how that went down.

So all the fights were disappointing all the way to the end for me. But it was still a great game.

Believe me, once you figure it out, and get a handle on a comfortable playstyle, endless amounts of adventuring and battles await you. My first time through, I was confused as **** on how to get past the Encampment. Little did I know then, all I had to do was talk to ******* Mercedes. Or maybe it's just not your thing.

i usually like games like this and it seems interesting, but i'm at some city after this long ass pain in the ass escort mission in the beginning of the game and I don't know what to do now or who to talk to.

The Pawn Guild, if memory serves. And if nothing else, just ******* explore. Train. It's fun to just run around. Plus, your pawn will gain knowledge of various creatures and areas. You as well. Make sure the proper quest is marked, all that.

Dragon's Dogma, Capcom's contribution to the open-world RPG craze of 2011-2012 from the same people who brought us Devil May Cry 4. While the opening parts are a little slow, the rest of the game is filled with lots of action and exploration. Just don't expect Skyrim. It's not as big or epic.

Tactics are important for different enemies. Strider is a good beginner class, in my experience. Just learn attack patterns. Stay well stocked in curative sand make sure support pawns are your level or higher. Good luck, new Arisen!

Preparation is key later in the game, mainly because you will be walking for a while. And it may sound cruel, but if you're low on curatives, let your pawn die rather than heal them. When they are felled, you can revive them, and they have about half HP restored.

Oh, and investing in passives skills that compliment your play style help. That new attack might be flashy, but having a stamina boost or something is better.

I went ranger early on because it was fairly easy with some melee pawns and a mage. Eventually became a godlike mage and now I am running an assassin who can solo anything and everything with little regard.

Just play what seems fun to you, in the end it doesn't really matter much... but for the love of god make sure you can deal with everything as some monsters are only weak to magic, others require melee/range (*cough* I got stuck in a long ass golem fight, they cant be hurt like at all with magic, with mostly magic users and an inept melee... gave up after about 45 minutes). Balance your team, and enjoy the wreckage.

Expect to have a lot of fun.

I went Assassin at a very early stage in the game as quickly as possible and maxed out my stamina. I have a Ranger pawn, Wizard pawn, and Fighter pawn. Great combo due to the fact that I can just climb onto a monster and dire gouge the **** outta them.

get pawns that round out your character. I was always a melee class so i had another melee user, a mage and a range user. I recommend armor that doesn't weigh you down much

its not so much about difficulty, just that skyrims combat is kinda just kinda bland when compared to attacks and **** in dragons dogma, like meteor strikes, cool **** with bows, sky rim is more grand and epic though, its just good with combat

Legendary mode was still easy on Skyrim it just took more time. You reach a point where you have spells that cost 0 magika so you're literally spamming grand healing while just swinging away. Seriously, I hit over 1000 armor in that game and nothing could do anything.

Fun fact, your armor rating in skyrim in irrelevant once you are over 567. I.e. having an armor rating of 1000 is the same as having armor rating of 1 million is the same as armor rating of 567... They cap physical damage reduction at 80%.

So you clearly don't really know what the **** you're talking about.

That said, I agree. I played on legendary and skyrim was still easy (loved the hell out of that game, but that doesn't mean it wasn't easy).

I haven't found a game yet with a more disappointing boss fight than Risen.
-
Doesn't matter what class you've chosen or what quests you did, at the end you're given a hammer that means even if you're a stealthy rogue or mage and you will have to do a jumping mini game to fight the boss. you can fight the boss on impossible difficulty and still kick his ass without receiving a scratch.

Honestly, the fights in dragon's dogma feel like a chore the second time around. The first fight is epic and challenging as you figure out how to handle whatever big monster you are fighting. dodging it's attacks, keeping your party healthy and managing your items as they slowly dwindle.
Then you know exactly what to do and you slog through the next fight with no variation on the enemies' tactics. taking barely any damage and simply spamming an attack until the monster falls down.

I never really felt that with skyrim, I was always switching my weapons out, so I would be a starting mage with my first dragon fight, an adept one at my second, master at third, starting thief at 4th, and so on.

true, but it'll do about as much damage as aggressively tutting at them.
