But he got Megaman, Sonic, Ryu, Cloud, and Bayonetta all in one game. That's more effort into a series than most companies, let alone a single, tired Japanese.
The issue with Sakurai and why he's a jerk isn't because of what he absolutely refuses to it, it's his reaction to it and what he does instead. Let's take his excuse with Ridley, for example.
Instead of saying something like "We just don't see Ridley really fitting in with the rest of the group as an actual character", his excuse his "Ridley is too big" and "making him smaller would go against the character's origin." Meanwhile, Ganondorf, Bowser, and Samus (? Could be wrong on that one) are all different sizes from their "canon" appearance and Ganondorf is 70% a clone. He doesn't even have Dead Man's Volley and the reason he doesn't is because Sakurai likes him that way. There's no other reason for Ganondorf being like that, either.
Along with this, instead of putting effort into making better characters and characters that aren't another sword fighter, he makes "costumes" and makes them into characters. I.e Lucina, Dr. Mario, and Dark Pit. All three of them were pre-programmed costumes that they felt were just better as separate characters. And they are, don't get me wrong on that, but they put more effort into making those as separate characters instead of making completely new characters instead. Non-clones.
But that's just nit-picking. The last and most insulting thing Sakurai does is the Mii fighter costumes. Not only can you not use them in public games, meaning there's very little point in buying them since you can't show them off online, but they're character based. Genos, for example, is now just a really bad costume Seriously, they don't even include his mouth-lines. It's just his hat. . Even though he's been asked for since Melee, Sakurai decided the only explanation we get is him being made into a costume.
So, really, the reason Sakurai is a jerk is because he sucks at social things in regards to fans. Who knows if he even had much hand in choosing the characters you mentioned anyways. I'm 100% sure Bayonetta was not his choice, since it was the fan thing, if they're being truthful about it.
im probably wrong, but Corrin is the default name for the main character in the new Fire Emblem, so its like Robin, how you could make a boy or girl character. So having the alternative makes sense in this case, so theres no real original, cos character creation.
Because the Mario characters at least have some diversity regarding gameplay.
Fire Emblem characters are mainly copy/paste move sets with swords being their main weapons.
On top of that, no one outside of Japan even plays Fire Emblem.
The major issue, gameplay wise, with the Fire Emblem characters is that while they do handle a tad differently overall, they're still extremely similar. Marth/Lucina/Ike/Roy all have the down counter, have their silly "more damage at a certain part of their sword" thing except Ike who hits like a truck always , They all have swords typically at the same length so their attacks are mostly all the same range, and all of them have a charge-up special with Robin's being the only ranged one.
If they weren't all sword fighters, it'd probably be more acceptable. Plus the major issue with Corrin is that his/her game isn't even out yet in the west. That's just rude, y'know?
But with Mario Characters, they're all unique and different. While they do just hand-to-hand stuff for the most part, none of them handle in a similar way except Luigi and Mario/Dr.Mario having the "Fire balls" and those are slightly different. Each of them is their own character...
While with the Fire Emblem characters, they're just... swordsmen. For the most part. Robin is the most unique, but rather weak overall.
But I dunno if that's really the case, I'm just giving my own two cents.
I think it's because people are salty about swordsmen in general. But I dunno, I don't keep track of this **** . I'm just excited about Bayonetta being added.
I'd like to see the top 10 lists of most wanted characters from North America, Europe, and Japan. Mostly out of curiosity, but I'd like to see which companies passed up a chance to put their character in Smash.
I'm betting Snake was just above Bayonetta, but Konami is.... Well, being Konami.
NX is gonna be revealed soon, if the rumour of the next smash having a new director is true, than that **** could very well be gettin' made right now, ****** need to chill.
