Amen to the description. Wish they would just do DMC5 already.

it would be nice if they made Sparda playable and how she met his wife

I thought that was Legendary Dark Knight mode...

Yeah, but that would be DMC0. They can do that, but first...I need DMC5.

-DmC is not a reboot, it's a reimagining. The original games are still canon and intact.
-I thought it was fun and interesting.

It was a good game, just not a good DMC

I loved DMC, felt like a male bayonetta.

dmc isn't a male bayonetta, bayonetta is a female dmc.

If your taping into a fan base in order to push new ideas or re-invent old ones in a imagination that you as a new designer prefer, than you have to be ready to face the ire of the fan base if you piss them off. If you want to do something new be bold, do something new. If you want steady income from a known fan base, welp your going to have to compromise your vision in order to appeal to said fan base.

Also don't actively make fun of the fan base, the people who your taking money from and who you stole ideas of the original from.

How was it not a reboot? What makes something a retelling instead of a reboot?

-I thought it was fun and interesting
Yeah, no. Edgy May Cry is neither of those.

A reboot is basically starting the story over from scratch. Meaning the old story is never touched again.

A retelling or reimagining is basically a what if scenario. A way for them to make a new story without being shackled down by the old one, but since it is justs a "what if" it isnt ofically canon.

TLDR:
reboot=restarting the canon
retelling/reimagining=non-canon/what if

>A reboot is basically starting the story over from scratch.
That's what DmC did, it retold D o ntes origin story.
>Meaning the old story is never touched again.
That's pretty much where we are right now, we haven't seen anything new from the old storyline aside from the Vergil Intro in DMC4: SE and that was just a combat trailer.
>A retelling or reimagining is basically a what if scenario. A way for them to make a new story without being shackled down by the old one, but since it is justs a "what if" it isnt ofically canon.
And you have no basis in calling DmC a "what-if" scenario. Until a DMC5 comes out DmC should be considered a reboot.

Im not on anyones side here, i was just trying to explain the difference between the terms.
Ive never even played a dmc game.

The characters were never really that good but the gameplay was the ****

My biggest complaint in DmC is and will always be the dumbed down gameplay, even if the characters do suck major ass they reshaped them too much, turning Dante into mr. Edge and Vergil in a completely forgettable character

I guess i just miss the cheesyness of Dante's one liners

I'm your prom date you ugly sack of **** , was probably the closest one that was in the game to the old dante, but then the rest of that conversation was just " **** you" over and over.

I still go back to DMC3 every year or so. Been playing for about a decade. Got an S rank in every mission in hard mode and lower. Still don't have all Ss in Very Hard and haven't even beaten all the DMD levels yet.

What about that one difficulty where literally everything including yourself dies in a single hit from anything so all you have to do is spam your pistols and win everything forever?

Boring. Not an actual challenge at all.

DMC5 should be Vergil's defeat to Mundas in hell.
Now if you're familiar with the series you're probably saying "That'll be a short game", but let me tell you why it wouldn't. Nero from DMC4 is implied to be Vergil's kid which begs the question "When did Vergil knock some lady up?" Also "Doesn't he hate everyone?". DMC5 could be Vergil battling through hell against Mundas' hordes with aid of some witch/sorcoress/magic bitch who ended up in hell because she's trying to find a way to stop demons from entering the human realm.
Over the course of the story Vergil comes to grips with who he is and accepts his loss to Dante in DMC3, realizing he was the asshole all along. Vergil and the witch fall in love. Vergil loses to Mundas because he sacrifices himself to save her. Then Vergil becomes the puppet we see in DMC1.
Whaddya think?

Vergil's part of the story is told(Rather quickly, in like, maybe two cutscenes) in the edition of DMC4 released on PS4 and maybe Xbone, it's pretty good, even lets you play as Lady(Who is OP as balls with that rocket launcher of hers) and Trish(Who is so ******* hard to style up with.)

Too cliche. And sure Virgil being Nero's father would explain a couple things but that seems more like fan service than an actual explanation, if it is true then we should get a direct sequel to 4 with Nero and Dante, a new story about something else because Virgils story is fine as it is, I dont want his character to change, and coming up with theories about it is a lot better than making a new canon game and risking ******* it up and making everyone mad, but going with a new story about nero and dante after 4 seems like the best thing to do. Like them going into an alternate universe and finding Devil May Cry-Devil May Cry's dante and the real Dante being like ''Wow this kid has issues''
User avatar #13 to #8 - jellybob (01/08/2016) [-]
What if it's Dante gets some kind of message (phone or supernatural) that somehow Vergil is alive, granted he's in Hell or something, but he still exists. And on his way to investigate, he runs in to Nero, who also heard the call since they're both related to Vergil. The gameplay could then be you can choose to play as either Dante or Nero. OR it could try some Clive Barker **** and let you switch freely between them during the stage while both are on screen kicking ass simultaneously. Which could also open up co-op (which with how PCs and Consoles these days run shouldn't be too hard) and let devs and systems show off their prowess by generating a ******* of mobs for the occasional super chaotic fight (think "Battle of 1000 Heartless from KHII) While fighting through hell they could see characters from other games like Arkham or Agnus and have interactions with them. Dante could have a duel with Sparta (for a test of strength, not to kill/be killed) and Nero could run in to/fight the demon who's arm he has. All leading up to a battle against.....I'd hate to see Mundus recycled as the final baddy, but I feel like just a "game boss" with no prior ties to Vergil or Dante would do the concept justice. What if they fought their Mother? Who at the end of the fight reveals she just didn't want to lose her baby Vergil. Could be interesting.

it's basically factual that nero is vergil's son. there are numerous sources to substantiate this.

his wikia.

devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Nero

Nero has some sort of relation to Sparda, due to the connection he has with the Yamato, and his alleged place in the Sparda bloodline. While in the past the exact details of this have yet to be established by Capcom in game, the Devil May Cry 4 novel contains hints that Nero is Vergil's son, and this claim has allegedly been confirmed at "Captivate 2009" by one of the Capcom employees who worked on the game's localization.[3] However, it is later confirmed and plainly stated that "Nero is in fact Vergil's son" by the Graphic Arts 3142 art book.[2].

DMC had a lot of flaws, i don't mind reboots, but dont **** it up is all i ask. Vergil was always the super cool badass brother, but in DMC he was just a dude that did basically nothing. Especially with combat, that was its biggest flaw, it still had some pluses, but devil may cry is all about styling on your enemies, getting sick combos and being fancy, but when you create enemies that are only damaged by certain weapons, it kind of hinders that. It has been a while since i played DMC, but those were my memorable gripes. Also never make fun of the fan base like that, i mean i guess it could come off as edgy and as a good poke from devs, but stlll, it doesnt take well.
