Okay, okay. No need to caps lock. Its a reboot so some things are different. its like saying the dark knight rising ****** up for not having a super beef cake Bane, just because Batman forever did (terrible batman movie tho). Its a reboot, if they wanted the exact same everything they would have just remade the original. (which they kinda did with the hd collection but i mean remake with todays tech like halo anniversary did).

the entirety of the new game was TERRIBLE in general. The Dark Knight Trilogy is in a universe that has allowed for multiple spin-off universes, DC Comics, Marvel also writes alternate universes, but none of them are ever far enough to completely change the personalities and looks of the characters. DMC was bad in that regard.

there are batman universes that do (idk about other comics). In Flash point Thomas Wayne becomes batman, mourning over his sons death. Im not too sure but i think there is a universe where batman even kills. and theres spider man universes like Noir where he looks almost nothing like the original

I'm not looking at DMC for character development, i want to string some combos, say some cheezy one liners, and be badass in excess, DmC has a storyline, and while the change is not entirely bad, it's not what people who played series looked for, if you need us, we'll be waiting for another Bayonetta.

Hey, I've heard that no one wanted to fund Platinum Games' Bayonetta 2 except for Nintendo; it'd either be a WiiU exclusive or non-existent. I personally like Bayonetta with short hair much more than her original appearance, and that's saying something. I don't care for Jeanne's new look, on the other hand. I just want all of Nintendo's announced games to come out already, because my WiiU is little more than a dust collector right now.

*Restarts the conversation, with less newbiness*

Dante, in all the previous games, always had white hair. It's a sort of insignia, or capitalistic character. It's what made him abnormal, and interesting on the outside. Changing it to black hair wasn't wise at all, making him far too human.

I personally liked the new game, thought the hair joke at the beginning was funny "... Not in a million years...", and was glad when his hair slowly turned silver till the end. But I don't hope it gets a sequel.

... No, wait, I'd be lying. I want a sequel.

But no more after that! I miss the -real- Dante. As shown up above there's.. A pretty major difference between the two.

By that logic I can also say....
Your sentence is full of personal opinions that the author is trying to present to the reader as facts. The author is obviously a fan of the new DmC and during the whole statement is butthurt about someone's opinion on the new Dante, making his statement as irrelevant as some anon bitching about the subject.

I don't think you see the point people are making at all. When DmC was announced, a lot of people were like "Oh. Kick ass, either a prequel or a revival to a long dead series that I loved!" I didn't play much of the original series, only about an hour of DMC3 (Which is chronologically the first in the series). But from what I saw of Dante, he was a good version of a character. He was cocky, yes, but he had it in a way that wasn't a tool. From what I have seen from the cutscenes of DmC, it isn't even the same style of character, despite how much the game is trying to emulate the same feel and universe as the original series.

What the hell Devil May Cry battle system did you play? Did you never figure out that the left bumper stick is locking on or something? More comfortable with a system that rewards you for button mashing than one that requires mastering your combos?

"Mastering your combos" get the **** out of here, play street fighter, there you master a combo. In DMC there is no skill involved in doing a combo, just memory. And the dodge system or "table hopper" is the clunkiest and most nin-responsive tool the the games. I have played the games a ton and know that the dodge system is not the same as in God of War and and Bayonetta, but it's still incredibly sub-par. Where the game shines is in its weapon and "stance" customizing.

Yes, DMC is about using your memory to perform a combo in the right situation. Much like ******* Street Fighter.

What do you mean the dodge system was awful and clunky? Just because it doesn't have m-muh invincibility frames like DmC?

DmC is about demon dodging and the using the fists to get an instant SSS and screen nuke all the enemies. I can tell which one feels more satisfying and rewarding.

I don't really understand why someone would like something that blatantly shallow.

Because having to chose which combo to use is hard? Get out of here, use the one with the most hitstun, none of the games have hitstun detoriation, your only punishment is lower style points, something that the focus should be placed less on, because it can make the player want to perform worse and do worse choices, for more style, something difficulty should note come from. A game with a ******* of invincibility frames on a dodge usually focuses more on keeping your reactions on the edge, like Bayonetta and God of War once again. I prefer putting my reactions and movement to the test than my finger memory. In the older DMC games on harder difficulties you'll usually find yourself kiting and use the optimal combo (one out of like 3, as this is where you dont give a **** about style and the game instantly loses half of it's combat system).

Also, dont even compare a combo from SF to one from DMC. Skill because you have to "perform a combo in the right situation" if you see an enemy recovering you'll do your X Y X X combo or whatever that takes so much skill.
Id like to see you, with your DMC execution, do a punish combo this girl.

I'm not saying it's hard, I'm saying it's deeper than DmC.

If you don't give a **** about style on the harder difficulties, you're just bad at the game. Flat out. The style system is the thing that keeps you on edge in those games, because you can't rely on the dodge to get you out of any situation like most games.

Also, are you in any way implying that God of War's battle system was GOOD? And you say DMC is just about "X Y X X" combos. "X Y X X" combo. **** off.

Honestly, I don't really play much SF, I'm more of an Arc System Works
BlazBlue/Guilty Gear/Persona 4 Arena guy, myself.

What you don't seem to understand is that fighting games (at least at high level play) are ALL ABOUT memorizing combos and using them when the situation calls for it. Yes, there are other things like footsies and placement and whatnot, but these are all preparation methods to ensure you do the MEMORIZED COMBO on time.

Footsies in arc system fighters? K. Anyway, the top fighters don't spend nearly as much time memorizing a combo as they do "bind their reactions to their muscles" as in, if i see you do something, my reactions makes me do my combo. It's not as much memory as it is instinct and game knowledge. Have you seen top level Marvel? They know they can combo after this move and they know they have this amount of strikes they can do in the air after X launcher. But anyway, that's not the subject at all.
Im not saying God of War has a good combat system per se, but it shows that you can make a VERY difficult game even if the combos arn't heavy, because they actually use hitstun detoriation for one, so the game forces you to get good with the parry/dodging.

Also, im not a very good Devil May Cry player, no point in lying, but I did almost beat the 3rd one (my fav of the series, I dont really count DMC as a Devil May Cry game as they are so different) on Dante Must Die, and by the end, my focus was not keeping my style up, ill tell you that much.

I'm not saying it's perfect, though the old DMC was quite a bit better than the new if you don't want your points just given to you. In the old, you needed to keep things mixed up and fast to keep your style meter high. In the new, the only way for your meter to actually go down is to get hit. You also don't really need much to get past enemies beyond "spam with left bumper when enemy is blue, span with right bumper when enemy is red".

And I agree with you, what im saying is that I dont like that much of the difficulty came from the style meter, something you could ignore if you felt like it, and there goes the combat system out the window. The game doesnt let you play the game, so to speak. It asks nicely "could you please play the game?" by giving you red souls. I like the games, obviously, or else I wouldn't play them. But I just preferred the new one, as it strayed more towards, again, Bayonetta and God of War.

Yeah, but that's like saying you can ignore countering on Street Fighter if you really felt like. You CAN... but that kind of defeats the point of the game and takes away from the mastery of it.

I'd be more okay with it if it WAS closer to Bayonetta, with the dodges feeling less flat out easy to pull off.

Damn right he was. The biggest badass ever. It was a huge mistake to change him like that. Also a lot of things in DmC don't make sense (tried playing it, but the nonsense they babbled about made me rage quit)

Spoilers:

He looks exactly like Jelial, because he is Jelial from an alternate dimension known as Edolas. He hides his face because he knows of Erza's past, and does not want to trouble her. Also, he's the prince/king of Edolas.

I like Jelial and his "meteor" magic. Mystogan is definitely a close second, tied with Gray

Dude, I used the spoiler "eye", and warned him that it was a spoiler. If he looked, he choose to. If he didn't, then it's irrelevant.

The only reason I put it at all was the "he doesn't want to show his face to other people, and i also want to know his story" comment.

Valid point.
My rebuttal?
I'm anon, and can't delete it. The damage is done. I tried to make to where it was up to him, in a battle between willpower and curiosity.
