I've been a drummer for over 5 years now and the first year I started playing my lesson teacher told me to play Guitar Hero World Tour. It really helps to get syncopation down in a fun way and it definitely helps for drummers who are starting out.

I'm going to request that you look up the Catharsis Hypothesis and how it has been discredited. Don't worry, I'll wait.

Done? Okay so giving in to your anger is bad for your conscience, and even has some physical conditions to go with it.

So while I disagree with you saying that murderous video games would get rid of angry feelings, I do not disagree with saying that video games do not make people into killers.

Normal people make the disconnect of killing pixels vs killing people anyway. It's just autists being spaghetti that make logic leaps of Doom 2 causing kids to shoot up schools.

tl;dr Video games don't make you kill, but if you're angry just watch GameGrumps play Kirby's Epic Yarn

I was going to say that. I'll bet you anything that video games actually reduce violence. Come to think of it, all of the most rational people I know play all kinds of violent video games. And, the guys that scare me either never play games, or the games they do play are just puzzle games. But, even the puzzle game guys I know are less whacked than some of the no-games guys.

Here is the way I see it.
The only reason the game is being blamed for kills, is because people are too ******* lazy to take responsibility. Like recently, that 8 year old who killed his grandma with a gun. They blamed the game right away without considering the facts:
1. He is 8, so there is no way he could have gotten the game himself. 2. Because of fact 1, that means more than likely his parents or grandma got him the game without checking the rating.
His parents(or whomever got him the game) are fully responsible for the shooting. But no, they won't blame the asshat parents, they'll just blame the game because it's easier for them.
TL;DR version: Blame the parents, the kids can't get the games otherwise.

Also, he was obviously already ****** up in the head. A normal, head-healthy person doesn't kill a real person in real life just because they killed a fake person in a game.

That's how I view it too. Most people who go out and murder people while they might have played a violent video game beforehand are most likely not right in the head to begin with. They would go out and killed either way or atleast eventually. Also as you said, it's mostly the parents fault if a young child plays a 18+ game which might influence them. They are still developing as a person at that age.

Indeed. Now, I understand the fact that the game certainly influenced the kid, but the adults need to be responsible and understand that an 8 year old needs to avoid a game involving murdering pedestrians for fun and killing hookers after getting blowjobs to get your money back, especially when he's at such an impressionable and irrational age.

But I completely agree. Irresponsible parents will never admit to being irresponsible.

To quote Eminem in 'The Way I Am':
'When a kid's getting bullied and shoots up his school and the blame it on Marilyn, and the heroine, where were the parents at?'
Thinking about it, a lot of The Marshal Mathers LP is filled with him talking about it being the parents fault etc.

When we were around 8 me and my friends played GTA III and such all the time, swapping stories and cheats in school etc. and none of us ever even thought of replicating anything from the game, since our parents were smart enough to explain that it's just a game. That's called parenting and that kid obviusly didn't have it.

TL;DR: Blame the parents, but not just for letting the kids have the games but for not raising them to know difference between RL and fiction.

Didn't stop people like Jack the Ripper from coming into existence.
Violence is human nature, and some people lack or lose the ability to refrain acting upon that nature. If anything, violent videogames act as a way to reduce stress and satisfy the urge, giving people one more means to combat it.
