He's kinda right. Most people who complain about Gamestop ripping them off has no idea how economics work. When you buy the game, it's mint in box, unopened, and brand fuckin' new. But when you tear that packaging off, it's value goes down. When you rip open the case, value goes down more, touch the disc, value goes down, play it, value goes down. This happened with Battlefield 3, when I bought it for $60, and turned it in a week later, I got $26 because it was barely played. When I got Mass Effect 2, I never played it. I turned it in and I got $30. This is just like having a collectors item action figure. The less you fuck with it, the more value it will have, or retain.
It also depends on how much they'll resell it for. They have no clue whether you originally bought the game from them or not, but they do know that if they can only sell a game for $15 used, they sure as hell aren't going to pay you $30.
