ugh so i do like this kids joker. i do. but the shift felt so forced. like he didnt crack a smile in the rest of the episode, much less a joke. to suddenly go from that to laughing about murdering your whore mother is sort of....idk, **** writing. kids awesome. writing isnt. still love gotham but that shift and how much attention Fish gets bug me

I think that was the point of it, though. To show how messed up he was.
He's not a lock for Joker. He may just be an inspiration for him, but who knows.

So far that kid id my favorite live action representation of the Joker so far, even if he is not actually the Joker. I am still hoping Leto's will be good too
#41 to #36 - anon (10/02/2015) [-]
I'm kinda hoping he isn't, just because I've never seen an attempt to detail Joker's life before he became Joker work out well.

Also because I find it difficult to believe nobody would think "Hey, that Jerome kid... Could he be the Joker?"

I could go either way, I mean the show isn't Canon and seems to be going it's own direction. Its nice to see some form of story of how the villains came to be. If they decided to make it Canon I would probably be against it but as it is now I like it.
#104 to #45 - anon (10/02/2015) [-]
Mhm, the show is widely ruining a lot of aspects
.
Like how Barbara Kean kills her parents, teams up with Jerome, has a thug beat up Jim Gordon (signaling she can no longer be Batwoman's mother) and is a raging ******* psychopath that sleeps with random guys. A LOT of random guys

The only way Jim will take care of her daughter now is if she gets pregnant while banging a bunch of other guys and he adopts the kid he should have shot her when he had the chance , to keep her away from her mother's crazy behavior.

The story is completely ruined.
They also confirmed Batman won't be in it until the last frame of the last scene. So we won't even see a last battle, or a fight scene.

They need to change their direction, fast.
User avatar #110 to #104 - kjftiger (10/02/2015) [-]
It is not a show about Batman though, it is about Jim Gordon rising to power.
Like I said they are going their own way with it and making their own story different from Canon. If it was suppose to be from the source material it would be bad, but it's not and I enjoy the way they are doing it. Though I understand where you are coming from and get why a lot of people do not like it. Barbera is the definition of don't stick it in crazy, she has gone from Gordon to lady cop to psychos

He reminds me of Jack Nicholson in his first appearance and reminds me of JN combined with Heath Ledger and Mark Hamill in Season 2, especially his smile:

It shows more teeth when he's attacking someone, tightens around the edges when he's pissed off, and gets larger and more relaxed right before he kills someone.

He's probably the best part of Season 2.

Humble Peasant must making a living and protect is family from adventurers.
Starts off by making pots for a living.
More pots that survive the adventurers' onslaught means more money.
Can sell better things than pots of course, over time.
Also have to prevent adventurers from taking family savings just because they found the chest in the closet.
Also have to keep adventurers away from family. Can't have Bobby getting inspired to go off and die fighting slimes or Susie falling in love with a danger stranger.

A lot of different approaches one can take from this idea. From tower defense to some kind of non-tower based survival where you just fend off adventures with a broomstick.

It could be an open world environment where you can establish your horde on the tallest mountaintop or clear some cave trolls out and expand their lair, adding their wealth to your own. You use what you gain to learn magic to make your wealth smaller/more compact, thus easier to hide, and more secure in increasingly stronger and smaller rooms. The side quests have you work with various factions to keep marauding adventures out of their lands/guilds, the main quest is you fighting a series of parties who try to force their way into your keep. How well you prepare your dungeon, arm it with security and traps, and finally the "vault" in which you keep your prized possessions determine how tough each mission will be.

Eventually at the end of the game a party of adventures captures you deep within your fortifications. They haul you out before the town but are unable to locate your treasure thanks to your efforts at concealment and size reduction. You congratulate them on their success and before they execute you for all the adventures you've killed, you let them know that your fortune is theirs for the taking, but they have to find it first, and you have left everyone you own in one piece...

And there's your sequel material.

The biggest thing that upsets me about this is that this will NEVER get made.

There's all sorts of really great ideas for games tossed around online, all by people without any sort of game-dev skillset, so they'll never make them themselves.

On occasion, someone will make a beta of one, but it will get abandoned, and become yet another piece of abandonware available for download from mediafire, sourceforge, github, or some other similar site.

Maybe, just maybe, some actual game dev worth their salt will attempt making this game, but one of two thing will happen from there. Either they'll realize that in order to make the game as described, they'd have to have a much larger budget; or they'll run into issues where no one is quite sure as to develop the idea, and to whom to give credit to, and any other sort of similar issue.

If this gets made, I would buy it in a heartbeat. This sounds ******* amazing- I love the ideas of creative villains in games, and of villain protagonists excluding obvious stuff like GTA/Payday, I mean where you're straight up playing the villain, not just some random douche who doesn't give a **** about laws. .

However, this will never reach completion. And even if it did, it'd be relegated to the depths of Steam Greenlight, never to see the light of day.

Programmer with experience reporting for duty.
I have experience in a wide array of languages.

My main comment here though is that if we are to make this game, do we want it to be 2d or 3d. Do we want it to be a click and do game or a first person fighter game? There is a lot of design still to be done with this idea. So if we do get a team together, I think we could do some brainstorming and nail out the parameters of the game.

I am always open for doing some programming work. I asume a game like this could need a medium size team. Here is a rough outline of what would be needed.

2-4 programmers. Anything more can become a mess without proper organizing.
2-5 art designers. I am requesting 2 at least to keep it from becoming way too much for one person. The only issue with more designers is that the art style has to be kept the same.
1-2 writers. These will do the story and conversations in the game.
A couple of voice actors. The number is not set because we have no idea how many characters there will be and if the voice actors could do multiple roles. (for the record i can do this)

In addition to the development team, we will need a Game designer(aka someone to keep everyone under check, making sure that people are doing what they are supposed to and stuff. Also one to take the final decition.) A community manager(someone to advertice, post updates and spread the word)

With a team like that gathered, I am quite sure we can get out some prototypes to see if the game is even fun to play. Some games are never meant to get out of the idea stage.

If you want me on a team for developing this, you can contact me on skype: Iamadruid2

I want to see an mmo where everyone plays as the npcs (running a town, owning shops, making laws, etc). The whole town would be entirely player-operated. The goal would be to help the local heroes (the actual npcs) by giving them quests, paying them, getting them better gear, that kind of **** . Essentially you would win once you got the heroes to defeat the main villain.

I'd play the **** out of it.
#84 to #67 - ludly (10/02/2015) [-]
Sounds kind of like "My life as a king." A wii ware title that was a final fantasy spin off where you control a city as king and your job is to make it better while sending adventurers off to eventually destroy the dark lord. But you never actually leave the town. It was a small short simple game but I loved it and what you are saying is basically a more complex version of that.

First-Person Fantasy RPG...

>In a 1:1 scale texas-sized continent created using procedural generation with cities/towns/major landmarks/etc being manually added in, but with algorithms running to create bandit camps, ancient ruins, thief hideouts, shrines, places of power, dungeons etc etc etc throughout the land that's been procedurally generated. Have a Fast-Travel system that allows the player to travel between towns/cities by default but to landmarks as they discover them. Have it all in a real-time day/night cycle so that it takes exactly 24 real-hours for a day to pass in-game, but have fast-travel/sleep etc all be calculated to advance time exactly that much. And have random-events be possible to happen during fast-travel so that maybe a pack of wolves shows up or you get ambushed by bandits or you discover a point of interest along the way that will cause you to stop, save the rest of your route and let you finish it later. Have this entire map be generated prior to release so that it's the same map in every copy, but have it be dynamic enough that every playthrough will be different.

>Numerous races all with their own starting zones, and allow the player to select their background from the Holy Trinity: Warrior, Mage, Rogue. Then have sub-backgrounds: Warrior could be brocken down to: Trained as infantry, did work as a bodyguard, trained as a disciplined swordsman. Mage: student of the local mage school, trained as a cleric, practiced in dark art. Rogue: grew up on the streets, novice thief, trained as an assassin. This "class" system would give you a basic set of skills and starting zone within the starting zone, basic abilities, and starting gear, but would in no-way limit your ability to practice other skills. You increase your skills by using them, and as they get higher up you need to do more difficult things to raise them further.

>Have no major storyline involving the player. You're not special to start out with. You're not the chosen one. You're just a fledgling adventurer setting out to explore the world. The story is dynamic, run by complex algorithms that manage the world even when you're not participating in a specific area. Random events cause bandits to attack a city in the northwest, the city responds by sending out warriors to defend. The bandit attacks get worse and the king of that land sends most of his army out in the forest to the south or whatever to exterminate the bandit clan that is pestering him. Now that land is losing bandits and is safer...but the city is undefended. A rival faction to the east, where the player is, sends their warriors out to assault the city that is fighting bandits. The king of the land you're in has hiring signs put up looking for adventurers willing to assist, and promises great rewards. You, a fairly-skilled mage, decide to assist. You travel to the palace and meat with the king, and he gives you the fast travel route to the city that his army is taking. You accept and you go to meat up with the army and start an assault.

Have the world be completely dynamic and changing behind the scenes, with the player just a participant in events instead of the center of them. Building your legend up from nothing. Eventually becoming renowned/skilled enough to become a leader yourself. Stage an uprising against a disliked ruler. Take control of a city, gather more followers. Build up an army and lead them in to battle. Have the end game being you having literally conquered the land.
User avatar #97 to #95 - clavatninenine (10/02/2015) [-]
AND THEN HAVE EXPANSION PACKS:

The world size is now doubled, you can create a new prestige character who has higher starting abilities and have your previous character become the NPC ruler of the original world map (you'd still have the option to play as your first character and go out and wreck **** if you so chose). Use that prestige character and explore and grow in power in the new land, and either decide to assist your previous character in expanding out against much more formidable foes...or decide to do what your old character did...stage an uprising, start your own faction, become a ruler and start expanding your territory. Have your first character become your rival and the end game is you vying for control over the new larger world map against your first character.

Then maybe a second expansion pack comes out and you can make another prestige character from new races with new skills/abilities in a new area of land that can't be found in other lands. Now you leave your first 2 characters to continue their wars as NPCs while you build up this new character.

And it goes on until you're sick of it and turn it off.
User avatar #100 to #97 - clavatninenine (10/02/2015) [-]
This would probably need some sort of always-on that allows for the player to grab the world data from a server so that it doesnt fill up their entire HDD, and just load as needed. This would also double as a bug-fix system so that players who find bugs in the massive world could report it along with coordinates so the devs could come in and fix them and any updates could be distributed easily. Then allow for people to host their own multiplayer servers that then connect to the world-grab servers so that the world would still all be used normally, but the game server host would be able to add in mods and whatnot that add in races/weapons/spells/etc that don't affect the world data. Then, allow players to connect based on the specified player maximum set by the host. The host would then be able to play with their friends in an adventuring company, and the host would set a fast travel destination if needed, and if the majority of players accept, then theyd all start the fast travel process. Maybe have an option to not need a host for fast travel and disable the passage of time during fast travel and just keep everything in real-time (fast travel takes 30 seconds to load then 30 seconds in-game has passed instead of the calculated 4 days it might have been otherwise) so that it could be a genuine mmo scenario.
User avatar #106 to #100 - stifflimb (10/02/2015) [-]
I like a lot of what I'm reading, though I would be more interested in a bit more varying in the sub classes, for example Cleric could either use good or dark kind of magics depending on what "skill tree/god" you decide to go into and that way eliminating the dark practicer and allowing for something different like shaman/arcane warrior/druid instead of going into the very standard kind of sub classes.
And for warrior could be have "grew up in the street/brawler kind of subclass, a little like berserk in not so refined and trained but more raw and brutal.
I've also always been weak for rouge duelists, as being a rouge does not have to throw you into the wrong kind people, as you named thief, assassin, warriors does not have to be trained professionals and mages scholars.

Just some thoughts I had ^^
User avatar #109 to #106 - clavatninenine (10/02/2015) [-]
Those would just be the base classes/abilites/skill trees. There would be other's that you could discover/learn through playing. Like a mage specializing in nature-related magic and has high enough average skill-rating in that area would naturally unlock the ability to access druidic magic. Meanwhile a Warrior that focuses on light armor/heavy weapons and spends a lot of time in the wilderness killing bandits/fighting wild animals would gain the ability to access berserker-related skill trees.

Essentially you start out with basics and as you build up your character your specialty evolves. And no info would be given about all the different possible specialities, and would encourage players to experiment on their own, and share with other people. This would be a game with a massive wiki.
User avatar #113 to #109 - stifflimb (10/03/2015) [-]
