this is how I see it happening
The main universe is half life but there are all the elements of portal in there aswell.
There zombie apocalypse is happening in a region that wasn't affected from the events of half life yet. Because of the media breakdown they couldn't get infor on the combine invasion.
Team fortress and counter strike could be games within game like on vending machines or some kind of simulators.

Now, imagine looking from a building a bunch of zombies and antlions fighting on the street and they just start charging on you and you just catch them in an infinite loop with your portal gun.

Portal is supposedly set hundreds of years after Half Life. And Portal 2 is set ages after that.

where did you get that info? the events almost happen parallel to each other? i researched it no make sure.

I thought that the citadel explosion in hl2 is what cause aperture science to jump start and machinery to turn on that caused chell to wake up in the first place.

I researched the time line and them being parallel to each other.

But the citadel part was my own theory.

The explosion from the citadel was just a mass of electric energy shooting almost whole country side causing a massive earthquake and many other incidents all over the HL2 world.

And the portal game storyline starts after the incident. The aperture science facility was started up by the pulse of electronic waves. but it was a little ways after the facility was back in working order before the tests began again.

Which is why Chell woke up some years after the incident. and portal 2 happened many years after episode 2. but Gordon freeman is back into his own kind of stasis thanks to the G-Man. so i suspect they are going to be conscious at the same time somewhere in hl3. it's just if valve decides if they meet or not. or at least see each other in some sort of incident. I would love to see in some sort of instance of portal 3 you intervene in HL3 or in HL3 you see Chell(you) intervene in your storyline.

Honestly, with the way it's set up and they keep updating, I see no reason to make a 3rd.

I'd agree with this but since Valve announced they're making a new engine that won't be able to simply keep supporting TF2 with updates.

I don't think you understand how a game engine works. It's more than a large update the entire game would need to be rewritten around the new engine. Then you would update the game with new graphics, gameplay, etc. It would be more than an update it would be an entirely new game.

Valve isn't going to re-code an entire game (1+ Years work) to be exactly the same on an engine with new benefits to add. If Valve makes continues to support TF (and they will) it will become TF3 (Or of similar name change).

I'm sure they will keep features/ideas that users love but it won't be TF2.

I know I don't like the sound either. Happens with every great game though. Support either ends or a sequel comes out that ruins it. Honestly i'd rather see TF2 lose support than have an overhaul.

i would like to see a new class, but i'd miss all the characters i've known and loved, so if they are new maybe theyre direct descendants of the old ones :D would love to see scout's and heavy's kids...and sniper's...and...ALL OF THEM! they just picked up and found all their parents' old stuff, would be cool

Agreed. They've managed to do so well with TF2, and continue making such good money off of it, that I think making TF3 would only hurt them.
