well no not **** sony, I mean they did pay for it to be made, I never understand why some people have to get pissy about stuff like this, remember when bayonetta 2 was announced as a wii u exclusive and everyone got pissed even though nintendo paid for it to happen and if nintendo did not do that the game most likely would never had happened its the same with bloodborne if sony did not pay for it, we probably never would have had it.
I hate exclusives in general, but especially so if it's in a series that I like. Dark Souls actually has a pretty large following on PC and if it was for money reasons I'm pretty sure they'd more than make back the cost it would take to port it. So, yes, **** Sony, and **** console exclusives in general.
First of all if you are gonna be on the topic of bitching about exclusives why don't you bitch about all the great PC exclusives? oh wait you are not gonna bitch about that are you? whiny ass ******* bitches everywhere
Not all games would work on consoles. I'd like to see someone try to play a game like WoW on a PS4, well I guess if people can somehow manage to play a shooter with a controller they might be able to deal with WoW. Also do you seriously expect indie devs to pay the licensing fees for Microsoft and Sony? The PC exclusives either wouldn't run on a console (due to control scheme or the consoles outdated hardware) or it's a indie dev who can't afford to put it on a console. Most AAA releases are made for console first (which sucks because that means they have to downgrade the graphics most of the time, hell even then they're forced to cap them to 30fps on console). It'd be nice if every PC game could be experienced on a console, but I just don't think consoles are up to that.
first of all I was not being serious, I was talking about how its stupid to bitch about exclusives, but because we are on topic, I don't expect certain PC exclusives to be put on consoles, but games like WoW, The old republic, hell even league of legends could be ported over, because guess what consoles at least the PS4 support keyboard and mouse, I don't expect graphically superior games to be ported. as for licensing fees, microsoft charges around $1000 for the dev kit plus other fees and according to some devs, sony was lending ps4 devs kits out for free. and even if there are licensing fee's to develop for consoles any of the more popular indie games that made some good bank on there game they can use that money to afford licensing.
but we are getting off topic here, point is exclusives are not bad for once reason, because games are a business and exclusives sell consoles which increases business.
If you think exclusives sell consoles I think you're wrong. Just going off of Dark souls numbers, Dark Souls 1 sold 2.8m world wide on consoles (before it was ported), Prepare to Die Edition sold sold 2.7m worldwide on release with 1.9m of those sales being on PC. Dark Souls 2 sold 2.3m worldwide with almost 1m sales on PC, Bloodborne sold 2m copies, the least out of every game, I bet if it was cross platform it would have sold at least 3m copies. Now let's see a PS4 is 350$ CAD and Bloodborne is around 50$ CAD how many Dark Souls fans on the PC do you think would spend ~400+$ (not including tax) just for a exclusive. Oh wait let's look at other exclusives the PS4 has.. Destiny? Uncharted? Let's not forget that both of those run at 30FPS and Uncharted got a serious graphics downgrade (Oh wow just like DKS II got aswell) That's about all I could find. I honestly doubt anyone's going to switch over to PS4 from PC just for that. If you look at the numbers Valve has 65 million total users, XBox live has 48 million users, and PSN has 110 million users, PSN may have more users but PC is still the fastest growing gaming market out there right now, in the past year they've grown by 30%. This is also just Steam, there are other retailers aswell and offline boxed copies for PC but y'know.
first of all I am getting the sense you think that I think PC users are going to switch from PC to console, its not gonna happen, I know that.
what I am saying is that exclusive sell consoles which they do in fact do, after rise of the tomb raider and halo 5 released for xbox one, sales of the console spiked, same thing happened when super smash bros wii u and mario kart wii u released, exclusives sell consoles because the exclusive are key in deciding which console to buy if you are only buying 1 .
the souls series may in fact make more bank on PC, but that has nothing to do with consoles selling more with exclusives , oh and while we are on topic of ps4 exclusive,
destiny is not a ps4 exclusive, uncharted is, but there is also, killzone, infamous, little big planet, bloodborne, knack, resogun, teraway, until dawn, and then there are the ones releasig in the future, Final fantasy 7 remake, The last guardian, Rime, Horizon zero dawn hunting ******* robo dinosaurs , Ni no Kuni 2, Kingdom hearts HD 2.8. ps4 has exclusives and so does xbox one and different people have different tastes and it helps consoles sell by having those exclusives.
that's probably what happened with demon souls and then FromSoft most likely realized how much money they could make on the idea.
So they made Dark Souls.
then sony realized they just let a huge ******* mistake they made by not locking down the IPs, so they paid FromSoft to make a NEW game, Bloodborne. It also allowed Miyazaki to try and mix things up a little bit without pissing off an established fanbase. It only exists because Sony paid for it and Dark Souls III still exists and is still coming to whatever systems you play on.
