You don't have to kill the Courser, if you talk to Mama Murphy her visions give you his recall code.

Perhaps they did it like the Skyrim "no kill" playthrough. You get your follower or other NPCs to do all the killing while you sit back and watch.

This is basically the case. Have your friend kill the guy on your command and feel innocent because you didnt kill him yourself. The whole concept honestly makes him more villainous than anything.

nope nope and nope. he used luring and traps or intimidation of non companion npcs or hacking of nearby machines including synths. but he also used a lot of load save glitches so theres that too.
