There is absolutely no reason undertale should even be remotely mentioned and/or involved with this content.

He's right, there are so many games that let you do a nonlethal playthough.

Undertale is a game that rewards you for beating it without killing anyone.

So yes, there is a reason.

Oh wow!

Is Undertale the first game to ever do that!? That's amazing, that's...revolutionary!

someone is just looking for a reason to get mad.

It was recent and currently popular. There have been other games that have allowed you to go through without killing people, but undertale is more notable due to it being something many people recognize.

Undertale was so notable because it took a game genre in which killing things and grinding for experience is a major staple and framed them as a plot device and psychological analysis of the player.

So many games have done that before it's not even ******* funny.

The concept of going against the grain and then being "oh, by the way, you're an ass hole" is a joke of a plot device.

Ah yes, you did exactly what the game practically ******* spoon fed you and now you are an asshole. Stare into the mirror and think about yourself.

It's an inherently flawed plot device - Spec Ops: The Line did it for the FPS genre and failed miserably as well. It's blatantly black and white story telling - not to mention it loses narrative value when it gives you the option to then do a different style of playthrough to see the other outcomes. It inherently breaks down its own narrative to make you seem morally inferior to the game design - which is just not the case, obviously.

You're still doing this?

C'mon man, you must have better things to do.

Taking a few minutes to write out a comment every now and then is no big deal.

Besides, I do not have anything to do right now, I'm off work until Monday, all my other projects are on hold.

Well, I guess I'm the same. I love arguing for no reason sometimes, too.

Anything that keeps me procrastinating.

Have fun.

Yep, and you have fun too with whatever you end up doing.

but spec ops isn't an fps. it's a third person shooter.

Excuse me, a TPS - it's still in the shooter category.

Because it's the most notable and recent example. Quoting directly from alpacalypse.

Arkham Asylum did it before both. I went through it without killing a single person.

******** have you seen his combo finishers?

A good 25% of those thugs are dead for sure, or will be after leaving them with internal bleeding from snapped femurs.
User avatar #46 to #44 - wertologist (01/02/2016) [-]
You can use detective mode and see that they are still alive. Leave the game running for a few hours and they will still be alive.
User avatar #48 to #46 - indecisivejew (01/02/2016) [-]
Nah I left it on for an hour once and the PS3 went into auto shut down mode so those dudes are dead for sure.
User avatar #49 to #48 - wertologist (01/02/2016) [-]
They ain't dead. Someone dragged them away or they are still there. Batmang don' kill nobody in dat game.
User avatar #22 to #21 - adamska (01/02/2016) [-]
No it isn't. But it's recent and popular, and that's the reason why it's being referred to.
User avatar #89 to #22 - payseht (01/02/2016) [-]
also, maybe, because it's one of the most popular game who's mechanics work around the fact you don't have to kill everyone?
