no he just maxed out his charisma and then built a bunch of stuff to level up. then he pacified every enemy and if he couldnt he would soft restart and try again

No. Spoilers ahead:

And the reason is because there is, one part of the main quest line that requires you to kill the man who killed your spouse and then kid napped your son.

Also, letting your companions do it for you doesn't count.

he hacked the synths in the room and had them kill the guy, doesn't count in the game log

the article said no exploits but apparently it involved a lot of save scumming

>>#93 You that mechanic is absolutely necessary in this kind of game.
#93 to #56 - anon (01/02/2016) [-]
saving frequently and reloading is not an exploit, it's a simple use of the games mechanic.

One time I used VATS to kill a radroach. That somehow caused my character to teleport 100 meters into the sky above another city. There was no map loaded. I did critical hit on roach. Then fell to my death.
Unless game is completely bug free save scumming is fine.

I used Vats on a Super Mutant and it warped me across the map.

I have a bug in my game where I can't fast travel to any outdoor location unless it's in the northeast corner of the map. I can walk there, and exit buildings there, but I can't fast travel.

thank god I'm not the only one with bugs up their ass. I had to literally stop my main character because of the radiation sound bug. I went to see virgil and that clicking noise wouldn't go away. It was incredibly loud too. I even did a load to a previous moment where it didn't have the noise and it would still start up and not go away.

How about when you smack a deathclaw and it flies into the air but VATS IS SO DAMN INTELLIGENT it puts you 100 ft. above ground.

Sounds like something you could fix using the console, if you are on PC. Had a problem where I had night vision scope EVERYWHERE, it was annoying as **** . Thank god I found a fix

******* XCOM on ironman mode is unplayable because of bugs. Lost a whole game because an enemy in one of the missions still counted as alive even though I killed it. And the unreachable Thin Man in the warship...
User avatar #142 to #91 - emiyashirou ONLINE (01/02/2016) [-]
Xcom on ironman is unplayable even without bugs. The RNG is ******* ******** . I lost my entire 6 man team to consecutive 1% shots that all hit and critted.
User avatar #157 to #142 - broswagonist (01/02/2016) [-]
The RNG's as fair as any other RNG producing unpredictable outcomes, runs of bad luck can and will happen and will be more noticeable than any good luck you'll have. The only way I've seen to make an RNG in a turn based strategy people won't complain so much about is to make it biased towards good accuracies, like Fire Emblem's.
User avatar #159 to #157 - emiyashirou ONLINE (01/02/2016) [-]
I just mean, if you can easily get a bad RNG result that destroys an entire team of high level units instantly (I've had my entire team wipe in a single turn by ******* Thin Men at least 3 times, while they were all in cover and not flanked) , then getting through 300 missions on ironman is nigh impossible
User avatar #160 to #159 - broswagonist (01/02/2016) [-]
Play an ironman expecting losses, don't focus on one 6 man team even if it sets you back. You're not guaranteed success, I'm just saying the RNG is about as fair as the shuffle on your music playlist is.
User avatar #161 to #160 - emiyashirou ONLINE (01/02/2016) [-]
I'm not focusing on one team. I try to have at least 3 of each class at all times (24 units), preferably 4, which just makes me end up having super OP Snipers (I think 3 of my snipers got to rank 5 or 6) while everyone else is a Lt Colonel (rank 3) or lower.

I couldn't get past the first alien base mission. First time 7 ******* chrysallids, 6 thin men, 2 droids and 3 floaters were just "lol **** you" all at once. Second time I got to the sectoid commander, but missed every single shot 6 turns in a row and lost.

After that I decided I couldn't be bothered with Ironman's ******** anymore.

If you're using longwar, it's longwar thats bugged not xcom. They even say it in the faq.

To be fair, save scumming isn't an exploit, something like running into a wall while carrying something to clip through it is.

Then you still kill people, same if you're using a companion to do your dirty work. A pacifist playthrough means getting through it without getting into combat and getting anyone killed.

A pacifist playthrough means that (unless faction A in a quest ends up killing faction B as that is out of your control and you didn't personally have anything to do with it) you don't ******* get anyone killed.
#92 to #78 - anon (01/02/2016) [-]
he didn't have his companions kill anyone because it would count in his kill record, he went companion less.
User avatar #81 to #78 - remsaman (01/02/2016) [-]
well technically theyre killing themselves.
they fire bullet, it ricochets off you, and hits them in a vital spot.
not your fault they decided to attack you

In new vegas it is check out the new vegas no kill run from many a tru nerd. However this fallout 4 no kill is a glitch fest. abusing load save glitch and idiot savant as well as XP farming with settlement. Not really that interesting.
User avatar #147 to #26 - toosexyforyou (01/02/2016) [-]
Load save glitch? You mean saving the game and then loading back to that point until you succeed in progressing the game the way you want? Do you actually know what a glitch is?
User avatar #162 to #147 - papaarnold (01/02/2016) [-]
Yes I know what a glitch is. I'm not talking about abusing save and load to pass a speech check I mean using quick save and quick load to get the same XP gain and trigger idiot savant.

10 charisma would get through a lot of the missions
User avatar #18 to #17 - hubabalu (01/01/2016) [-]
Getting through them sounds like a chore not a choice.

Ya its definitely not a good way to play the game

Considering it nearly broke the game, I doubt it.
