Counts for asgore in my opinion. When you make pacifist he will start the battle and destroys your mercy button.
But in the genocide route the first thing he says is something like I don't want to fight you
Actually he doesn't even realize you're human in the genocide run. He's not the one who starts the battle. You are. He thought you were just another monster wanting to have a chat with him.
he keeps talking about not wanting to fight you in the pacifist route too. all of the namened mosters also act similiar.
toriel still wants to test you, but after you kill her, she just kinda gets shocked about your blood lust.
bones mcorange still is soft hearted, but instead of his playtime attacking and **** , he reckognizes chara as a threat, and tries to befriend him instead, showcasing his soft hearted nature.
undyne shifts her motivations from just killing you to save monsters from fate for than death, to killing you to save the monsters from death worse than fate.
mettaton no longer plays around with alphys so he/she can act the way she he would normally act.
I do have a question though, did Sans really die after Chara defects him?
Unlike the other character he doesn't disintegrate/melt and just left the screen...There's theory rumoring that he can teleport through space and time, so, maybe he when back to the restaurant to heal with Papyrus.
You forgot Toriel, although she still can kill you accidentally, so there's that.
Also, there's an enormous ******* of NPC monsters who never have tried to kill you and never even had any business with you, so yeah.
In the end, though, the content is incorrect, because it implies all these monsters consider killing good - they absolutely never did. They don't say "Too bad". They say "You're right, let's be friends." All of them, in the end.
The only true evil in Undertale is Chara. You'd think it's Asriel, being the big bad boss and whatnot, but when you get to the bottom of it, he was good to the very end as long as he was actually himself. Getting revived as a soulless Flower can **** you up, and who is to blame I ask? Chara hates everything, wants to kill everything, and ultimately causes nothing but misery.
one of the things in hotland thinks its helping you, it said you approach shyren instead of her attacking you, So Sorry isn't trying on purpose, papyrus only wants to capture, jerry is just kinda there, Toriel believes attacking you with potentially lethal fireballs is a necessary evil to isolate you from the only way back to your home. Besides those, every single enemy you encounter goes out of their way to attack you while you're just walking by with intent to kill / absorb your soul or some elderitch **** . That means 95% of a genocide route is justifiable self defense, and every single one of those ******* who come after you while you march in a circle harming nobody deserve the knife to the face.
I haven't yet finished Genocide so no spoilerinos pls
but who is 'Sorry'?
I'm confused since it looks like you said it like a name, and I've encountered no-one named that
i'm even more confused since I named my genocide character Sorry (and I know that typing some names changes the game)
some furfag paid 1k for the fundraiser and the creator had to put his fat diaper fetish fursona in somehow. He made it a secret boss called "So Sorry" that affects nothing and is hidden away unless you go to his invisible lair in hotland on an exact day / time.
I see it differently. I'm going to put my entire comment in a spoiler just to stay on the safe side, hope you don't mind:
There's plenty of monsters and each one of them is somehow troubled. It always turns out that someone wanted to clean you, someone wanted to feed you, someone wanted affirmation for his jokes etc.... Even Undyne tries to kill you because she's been wrongly convinced that all humans are evil, and that killing them is a righteous way to free her kind - but as soon as she sees good in you, she starts caring about you like she cares about every single other monster.
If you look at it closely, there's only a handful of monsters who explicitly want to attack you for the sake of killing you. Only three, I think.
-Flowey, but he literally has no soul, and is devoid of compassion and love.
-Mad Dummy, but he, as stated in his name, is mad and attacks even himself.
-Sans, but if you actually come to this one, it's because you had it coming.
Every single other monster has a distress and a solution, and doesn't really mean harm specifically to you. Even Asriel eventually points out that in the Underground everything can be solved simply by being nice. And if you play your cards right, it really can.
This means that if you purge the underground, you are the one at fault, because you basically murdered monsters simply for being confused and troubled. You are already by default much more powerful than them because you have a human soul inside you. That's why it's your responsibility to make things right, you are the one strong enough to decide their fate. And dooming an entire, actually pretty peaceful nation doesn't really fall under the category of self defense, don't you think?
I would almost agree with you about the genocide route being justified, however that 5% is what matters. It's not the genocide route unless you kill everyone, otherwise its just neutral.
You kill everyone who tries to kill you, which is 95%, and the other 5% are people who get in your way regardless with a possibility of killing you as well (most of them at least). If you camp outside snowdin for 10 minutes, kill anyone who tries to kill you as you walk around in a circle, and then walk in to see everyone is dead, THEY ALL DESERVED IT. Its true that you off papyrus as he tries to capture you and deliver you to a king who murders children and steals their souls, but its hard to call it genocide when the entire population of an underground city of inhuman monsters throw themselves at you when yer just talkin a walk.
You are walking around every single area, trying to find every single being for the purpose of eradicating lfie, but its Ok if they give you another reason to.
You don't "need" to fight anyone, but they come up and try to kill you regardless. You can tickle their balls or stroke their tails and then spare them away and stuff sure, but its also fair game if you shank em till they stop shooting deadly lasers at you.
Starting from snowdin, you keep hearing everyone is being evacuated to a safe place you cant get them. considering there are lots of spaces in hotland and such where the laser beams are turned on, alphys could have turned those on to block you from moving forward, or turned on the lasers, or cut down one of the hundred bridges that would have stopped your rampage in its tracks. But they didn't. Instead, you just sat around hotland for 40 schmucks to come get some, and suddenly you've cleared out the entire underground except for a few one hit kill bosses. those ******* ran out of whatever safe place bunker they were in to come dogpile you, which at that point should be considered assisted suicide as they all thought you were an unstoppable psychopath.
If i'm at a shooting range and some **** sprints from the opposite side of the range to jump in front of the bullet, you're wouldn't say i was shooting to kill, you'd say the moron was committing suicide. I dont think its genocide as in the systematic slaughter of an entire race, just a number of cases of self defense equal to the population of retarded monsters at the time.
You just said that Papyrus isnt trying to kill you, i mean, in the genocide run he isnt even trying to bring you to Asgore
So killing him is unjustified and not self defense
Wouldn't a neutral run be justifiable murder? You're just trying to find your way home, getting attacked on the way. Whilst a genocide run would be you actively seeking fights, which doesn't really seem justifiable at all. Borrowing your shooting range analogy, could it not be compared to you shooting at your target, then going on to shoot everyone else's target too, even though it wasn't in your lane?
In the genocide route, YOU'RE THE ONE ATTACKING THE MONSTERS.
You're the one walking around to find them. You're the serial killer stalking them until you find them. You're not harmlessly wandering around in a circle, you're deliberately trying to find monsters and stab them in the face.
Anon babe I hold up + down and run into a wall for 5 min while I tab out the screen and go afk. If that's suppose to be a metaphor for me hunting people down or some **** , the translation is lost beyond the obvious reality of "I'm walking in a circle, monsters that could just take a nap and piss off or some **** come at me guns blazing and I shank the ******* ".
sprite based indie game that has multiple endings based on whether or not you kill the monsters. I was interested in the game but the fans are making me hate it
well, if fanboys destroy everything for you then you are missing out on a lot( no OPM, no Fallout 4, No anime of any kind, no Overlord, no Cosplay, No Star wars, no Deadpool, no undertale)
to anwser Quantumwaffle question, undertale is the kind of game you should go in blind so ill tell you about the game play and you just to trust me when i say the story is great
Gameplaywise it is a Turnbase RPG, the selling point is that when you get attacked, you can dogde all attacks in a bullet hell minigame(not tohou lvl of difficult bullet hell)
So it becames a mix of dodging and attacking,or you dont attack. You can Spare every single enemy there is on the game
The game has 3 endings, Genocide Neutral True Pacifist.
I think it was on sale a while ago, its not really expensive (10$) and it doesnt take too much time to complete, unless you genocide you monster
Theres a difference between enjoying a series and being enthusiastic about it, and posting images of said series as a response to every little thing you see. It gets on my nerves when you join a group for, lets say OPM, and after you make a post you will instead get images of undertale characters.
I guess in a sense, look at what bronies are like, but dial it down. That is how it feels
Well, I didn't particularly like Fallout 4, I've never watched Deadpool movies/shows, haven't really played Undertale, and I dislike Gintama despite it's popularity. As far as I've seen OPM will be on the fine/good side. I'm yet to watch it.
I'm gonna explain it as best as I could
backstory:
Undertale got base support from Tumblr and Reddit. There was a Kickstarter for it and over 50k $ was donated by over 2k donators. (The highest donator got even added in the game as secret boss So Sorry)
conclusion - game was popular before hitting Steam
main story:
Undertale passed Steam Greenlight and people could officially buy the game on Steam. That happened around Halloween which boosted even more of its hype because average users on FJ thumbed up everything skeleton-related. Undertale has 2 skeleton characters so skeletons+puns = thumbs at the time.
personal thoughts:
I thought it was overhyped but the reviews and feedback on the game was great, so I got it. It has really-really great soundtracks and storyline. Lots of easter eggs and that oldschool graphics. I think its amazing. It can and will be annoying to people who haven't played it / watched videos about it so torrenting is also an option since its only 150 MB.
Yeah, the main two routes were just the standard good or bad **** you'd see in everyday media. Neutral routes had plenty of variation, but no real attention put into them. The story and lore for the game were still good though, and the gameplay fairly innovative.
But the characters were awfully generic, and could have easily been ripped from any B-list movie. And I know Toby took a lot from various anime to make the game, and that's totally fine. I just wish he hadn't gone full shonen with it. The whole, "Believing in yourself and your friends automatically make you win.", scenario is terribly played out.
Love the game and all, but it's got some serious flaws.
Except believing in your friends nearly destroys the world, and you have to save their souls to reduce the sociapathic goat's power?
That's acceptance, not believing in.
