I know Chara is supposed to be the worst than satan and all that, but god damn, I love it when Chara is nice in comics...

In my head chara is only evil in a genocide run, then at the end becomes literal satan

In a pacifist run, towards the true ending, I feel chara gradually learns to become more kind this is based on the idea that the player, in some form, is chara

I suddenly understand every shoujo manga ever. The "not bad, just misunderstood" character who has a secret good side

their literal sprite name is "spawn of satan"

She gives off the 'nice until you piss her off' vibe in those comics. It'd be neat to see a protective version of her in one... Not sure if there are any comics where she goes out of the way to defend Frisk.

The same artist has exactly what you're lookin' for!
Chara and Frisk goin through the True Lab with Chara being the "protective big brother/sister" type. Who also gets scared of the spoopy Amalgamates

One thing I don't understand though is where the name Chara came from. Frisk is actually mentioned, but I never saw that in the genocide play through. Never playing that or watching it again.

"Chara" is supposed to be the CHARActer you name and from whose point of view you are playing

if you put "chara" in as the name for the fallen child, it says "this is the true name."

Whether or not that actually means its the actual name of the fallen child can be debated, but many people assume it's supposed to be so they just go with it. its also an abbreviation of "character," which a lot of names in the game are, they're abbreviations.

if you look in the mirror at asgore's house during genocide it also says "it's me, chara."
User avatar #48 to #46 - dtox (12/19/2015) [-]
yup, same with the mirror in toriel's home.

That's one of the many things that leads me to believe the player is controlling chara, who in turn is influencing frisk.

all 3 of which are their own entity.

yeah, that's actually what's happening.
Also, chara is possibly short for character, going back to when Toby was first designing the game and advertising it through kickstarter, he tweeted about he wanted the big bad to be the player, and take their name.

that's why your name shows up on the films in worstgirl's basement. You are chara, who is in turn also a seperate entity.

I assumed it was short for character, since tons of names in the game are also abbreviations.

also...

that's a funny way to say terrible.

honestly its because I have a hard time finding reasons to dislike the main characters in something I like, I like to find the good in them and what makes them stand out from everyone else.

She has some obnoxious quirks about her initially, yeah, but I feel she becomes a much stronger and appreciable character after the events of her "date," she has the greatest potential for growth.

also her relationship with undyne is adorable.

Chara's more of a female name
User avatar #77 to #76 - dndxplain ONLINE (12/20/2015) [-]
Chara's short for character, and the two characters (frisk and chara) legitimately have absolutely no gender at all.

Technically it's they, but, whatever I suppose.

I know, I was being a dick to bluemagebrilly, who seems to think that they're neutral for you to choose, when they're legitimately androgenous

Ah. Sorry for the confusion, then.

There is one I've seen before where she acts as Frisk's courage, calming her through the game. Particularly in the true lab. I know it was posted here somewhere, either as content or in the comments, but that's all I remember.

I saw that somewhere myself... I think it might be the same artist with how similar they looked. Wasn't too long, though.
