angelisk (12/13/2015) [-] I enjoyed the game because I like bullet hell games and RPG's so the gameplay is my favourite aspect of Undertale.. I agree the story isn't really anything special, though the characters seem deep and lovable at first sight, they quickly degrade to pretty much one dimensional characters as you play it longer. Still a great game though.

After skipping a bunch I decided to give the game a try and I have to say it was a fun game, but now I feel completely fine with downvoting the undertale content because most of it is not funny.
My experience of the game might have been different from most of the fans as I hated Papyrus and Sans going in and I don't think I could do a pacifist run because of them. Totally thinking of going genocide though, just to see that ******* annoying fat skeleton die.

most people just skip undesired content. i do it, you do it. but since undertale is now getting traction it's cool to **** on it to get green pinkies instead of just skipping. and that happens to literally every fandom that appears. i know people aint' gonna **** on it forever and the general ********* will subside in time, but it still annoys me. just because it's innevitable doesn't mean i have to like it.

like the recent post of people trying to get votes for undertale in the "best game" conpetition thing, over a timeless classic which revolutionised modern games like mario 64. its just gone too far, regardless of what the content is.
I appreciate that its a good game that makes good content, i just think the content is outdated no matter what, because of the game its about.

the game actually has great reviews right down the board. 94 on metacritic, over 18k overwhelming positive reviews on steam etc. however, it comes down to personal taste. so if you're not into that kind of game, good reviews mean jack **** .
if i were to play devil's advocate, i'd say that the first hour of the game can be kinda tedious, and the whole first starting area AKA the ruins could have been a bit shorter or at least more eventful. the game really starts getting fun after you leave that area.
another negative is the fandom, and it's haters respectively. expect spoilers, ********* and anything in between. in fact i would avoid in entirely since it's probably only gonna get worse.
a lot of people called it a "tumblr" game because the main character's gender isn't specified. IMO that's more of a plot device so you the player can inject yourself in the game. also there's a couple gay characters and one that's sexually ambiguous. i'm a hater of anything tumblr, but honestly it's not off putting as everyone made it out to be.
on the positive side, the game has a dope soundtrack and i found it generally enjoyable to play, a lot of bosses have a different fighting mechanic and that's also pretty neat.
the whole "bad" and "overrated" comments are products of the stupid gamefaq poll on "the best game ever" where undertale is currently in the semi finals after beating several well known and loved games. it's just a bunch of salty cunts on both sides, on a poll that shouldn't even exist.
