The fanbase is pretty cancerous already before he does, so it won't change much.
Theres cancer in the community, ill admit, but there's alot of good in it too, the good stuff is rarely posted on FJ since its usually full series, examples, Swaptale, or Sans Time Line Journal. There's also fans who will put it where it doesn't belong, but theres also alot who just stick to themselves and in their own clicks, such as r/undertale, so the only people we ever see are the finatics. So i don't think its fair to judge the whole fan base on a small percentage of it.
Its not the majority, its just theres alot of fans, alot of them just stay togeather and dont really expand, so the only ones who are outgoing seems cancerous and make the whole fan base look bad.
I like Anime
I dislike the majority of Anime fans due to *********** /Circlejerking i.e Attack on Titan and One Punch Man.
Its not a black and white concept like you're painting it out to be. You can enjoy/like something without joining the fanbase.

For that matter there's nothing wrong with the fanbases, just individuals in them. The whole is fine. The only fandom I've seen that defeats that is Steven Universe. Which is a shame because it's a great show if you ignore the obvious feminist overtones. But literally the majority of its 'active fandom' are comprised of the ONLY fanbase I'd say ever qualifies as 'cancer'.
The other fandoms are fine. Most of the people in them are fine. FJ just likes complaining about **** it doesn't know much about.

Hadn't realized there was distinct social difference between being a fan of something and being a member of a fanbase.
I was more looking at the grouping as whole including people who like something but don't necessarily talk about it much or make content for it.
Guess that's what makes you part of a fanbase to begin with.

Ok for starters I never understand this "I like this thing but generally(inb4 I said none individual) dislike other people that like it" mentality.
It just sounds kind of hypocritical when you disassociate yourself from a fanbase that you also admit you are a part of.
Isn't just anything that becomes popular cancerous?
Isn't it just generally a handful of over obsessive and loud people that do all the dumb **** and post cringy **** while the others just enjoy their thing and talk about their thing with others who also like their thing?

I'm also a part of the human race, but dislike a big portion of it.
No, it's not just a handful. The majority of the fanbase of Undertale obsesses over it too much. Have you not seen all the posts on here about, "Go to gamefaqs and vote this the best game evar!" The majority of the fanbase is cringy, and the minority not.

I made one of those posts, the entire reason a lot of people were doing it was because the amount of salt produced from fans of SSB Melee and other diehard bostaligic fanboys like Legend of Zelda fanatics for Ocarina of Time, in getting beaten by a random indie game a good few people irrationally hate, which honestly shouldn't have cleared nominations.
It was a trolling attempt to say say the least. Rigging Polls is the oldest trick in the book, and 4chan has been doing it for over a decade, with acts like getting Moot to be be considered the most influential person to live in the "Marblecake, also The Game" raid.
Almost nobody takes internet polls seriously, and those that do are the people the laughs are being had at the expense of, when they're almost always rigged.

Schadenfreude feels good to be honest. Some people who don't even like Undertale claimed they were voting for it just to rustle people's jimmies, since their favorite game already lost in another bracket.
Nobody got physically hurt, nor singled out and emotionally/socially abused, like the Steven Universe fiasco; I mean, there's no real harm done, the only people who got mad are those that chose to be irrationally angry about it.
Slinging **** and havin the 'bants about one's personal tastes in entertainment media is basically the internet's favorite past time. No harm, no foul, since it REALLY doesn't matter, but people get cranked up by ot none the less.
