creamgravy (12/27/2015) [-] Style =/= trend, Tons of great games have pixel art, and i actually liked it, it captured all the characters faces and poses well, mettatons dances, Undynes faces, and if you think that minecraft was the first game to feature good pixel art you're either high or autistic, + they don't do it because its easier, they do it because it's a nice looking style for some games, FPS games often have realistic and well made graphics, RPG's very often have pixel art.

creamgravy (12/27/2015) [-] RPG's in general use pixel art graphics though, i would put money atleast 90% do, + pixel art =/= lazy or bad, Hotline Miami had good pixel art, did it have bad graphics? **** no, Undertale's might only look black and white, and not as detailed, but it captures the characters well and it gives you funny faces. Pixel art is a style thats been used for years upon years, infact it might be the oldest style of graphics, so what if indie games use it? It doesn't belong to them, and the fact it's indie shouldn't matter either, if someone is just using pixel art as an excuse to not work on graphics as much, they'll have a ****** game, if someone uses it to because they think that's what their game looks best as, they'll have a good one, can you honestly say Undertale would look alot better if it was any style besides pixel?

Alright, I feel I do have to say something here, though pretty sure it's bait.

Yeah, the Pixel indie trend is rather annoying, however I don't think improved graphics would make Undertale better. There's a simple, clean charm in it, which is why it grew so popular so fast. I don't believe that Toby fox did it to stay with the trend, but rather because that's how the game was originally designed. After all, the game has been in the makings for years, and while the trend only started.. what? Late 2014? I found a rather large demo of the game dating to 2013.
I feel that having the hame be in higher res wouldn't help with the gameplay, and even takes away from parts, such as the North wall in the telescope room, or the Piano puzzle, even to finding the emotionally damaged Quiche.
I understand you want a small redesign, like a 16-bit to 32-bit, but past that it just takes away.
Would add more, but too bored to finish this comment, I ended up playing GTA half way through writing it and had to relog and write it all again.

You know why? Because it got exactly what Flowey is about. He ***** with the medium he's in. He knows all about it. The video took advantage of this, and used this ******* on us. It's much better than just the transformation; it showcases exactly what Flowey's main power is all about.
