The ghost that is the heart of Mettaton is a girl, but I think the maker of the game was going for the whole transgender, ftm sorta thing since everyone referred to him as a guy after Alphys put him in the robot.

randomhappybox (12/02/2015) [-] If the protagonist purchases the Mystery Key from Bratty and Catty, they can enter the house to the right of Napstablook's which is explained through a series diaries to be owned by another ghost known as "Napstablook's cousin" within the game (though Papyrus states that his name was Happstablook, which isn't wrong, it's his headcanon). It is heavily implied that after meeting Alphys, Alphys designed a body for Mettaton to inhabit, and that this ghost inhabits Mettaton's body.

But out of character: Napstablook is referred to as "they" in the game, and when they talk about Mettaton before he became a robot they also say "they". In other words, ghosts are only talked about using "they" which is gender neutral. The feminine room and his feminine manners would lead one to believe Mettaton identifies as a girl, but in reality he identifies as a man which I believe is Toby Fox purposefully misleading the players to kind of break down the stereotypes about gender (it is that kind of game after all, there's a reason tumblr loves it). And while on the topic, Mettaton in this case could be considered transexual. He is a creature without gender that identifies as the male gender, making him someone who was not comfortable in the body he was born in (because I don't think the ghosts are the ghosts of dead humans, but rather some odd species of monster). He finally got the body he always wanted, and whatnot.
TL;DR: There's no evidence for Mettaton having been a female ghosts, or ghosts having any gender at all, but there is evidence suggesting that ghosts have no gender.

Live Movie maker has some video editing abilities. If you could make the music match the animation better it would be awesome. Like if the music builds up while he's glitching out and goes up to speed when he rockets up.
