my best friend scouts!

so it breaks down like this. 8 years ago i was at a huge garden center (they had reptiles and stuff living there) i was walking and on a trail and this curious old box turtle walked out out me. i turned to some that worked there and said "he's so adorable!" they said "yeah, we just got him two weeks ago he's a rescue he was brought in with with three other ones he was the only one that made it the first week." he is an extremely rare turtle called cuora galbinifrons his shell...more »

so it breaks down like this. 8 years ago i was at a huge garden center (they had reptiles and stuff living there) i was walking and on a trail and this curious old box turtle walked out out me. i turned to some that worked there and said "he's so adorable!" they said "yeah, we just got him two weeks ago he's a rescue he was brought in with with three other ones he was the only one that made it the first week." he is an extremely rare turtle called cuora galbinifrons his shell was badly hurt he looked extremely dehydrated his beak was overgrown his nails were bleeding i asked what was wrong they said "he wasn't eaten or drank since we brought him here he probably wont make it another week" i immediately said "I'll take him." after doing the paper work i brought him to the vet and got his beak and nails and shell patched up. i got home and placed him in a tank of shallow water he didn't take a sip. weeks later i almost gave up as i replaced his mixed salad bowl with fruits and vitamin supplements "i leaned against the tank and said to myself "you came to me help me out here buddy." the next morning i woke up the bowl and water dish were empty i put another in he aggressively ate all of it! i was so happy!! it's been 8 years now and scouts is doing amazing! he had a female with him that i found in Florida from someone. i hope he'll be a daddy by next year! i love you so much scouts!! i wanted to share my humbling experience with this shy wonderful box turtle! thank you for reading!
