We need to stop this whole everyone is beautiful pussy **** that's been going on. This is why the USA has such high obesity weights. Because we tell the kids that it's OK to be fat when it ******* isn't. They should never be ok with being fat. Once that happens it means that they lost the battle. People should strive to be healthy, not just give up and accept being a fatass sack of blubber. It's disgusting. Stop telling kids that it's ok to be fat and they wont think that it is. Tell them it's NOT OK and that they shouldn't be and maybe they wont be ok with being fat.

Maybe it's because congress decided that pizza is a vegetable, school lunches are unhealthy and there's no real education on the subject for children.
I'm pretty sure the "Big-boned" bs came after everyone was already fat. Getting fat is the natural instinct when it's possible, it has more to do with available food than attitudes
User avatar #21 to #20 - Kadzait ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]
>hurrr durrr pizza is a vegetable
You stupid **** , the argument was over whether or not the pizza sauce should be counted as a serving of vegetables
#22 to #21 - billburr (08/13/2014) [-]
Which it shouldn't.
The argument was actually about whether cutting costs was worth the health of American children
But you did call me a stupid **** , that adds a lot of weight to your argument Just like pizza added a lot of wait to your tubby kids
User avatar #24 to #22 - Kadzait ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]
And why shouldn't it? Assuming the sauce actually contains a suitable amount tomatoes I don't see an issue.
#30 to #24 - billburr (08/13/2014) [-]
Because it doesn't contain a suitable number of tomatoes, and pizza is generally unhealthy.
Sometimes kids should eat pizza, but you should not tell them it is a vegetable
Hurr durr, I'm talking sensibly now. You stupid ****
User avatar #31 to #30 - Kadzait ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]
How do you know it doesn't contain a suitable amount of tomatoes? Pizza can be healthy as long as the person cooking it isn't a complete dumb ass.

Also, nobody is telling the kids "pizza is a vegetable."
#36 to #31 - billburr (08/13/2014) [-]
Have you ever eaten cafeteria pizza? It was a cost-cutting measure so that they could serve pizza without having a vegetable side. End of story, you can keep arguing though
User avatar #38 to #36 - Kadzait ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]
So, your argument is basically "I'm right and you're wrong because I say so"?
#41 to #38 - billburr (08/13/2014) [-]
My argument is that pizza at cafeterias does not have a full serving of vegetables. If you had ever seen it you would know that is true.
It is also a ridiculous thing for congress to handle, and if it was about vegetables and not money then it would not have made it that far.
Your argument was Hurr durr, you're a ******* idiot.
Peace out
User avatar #42 to #41 - Kadzait ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]
Oh, okay, I'm sorry I didn't realize that you had magic pizza vision that let you see all pizza in every cafeteria in America, honest mistake.
#44 to #42 - billburr (08/13/2014) [-]
I can't believe you needed a source on this
It's pizza for christ's sake, have you ever eaten it?
Cafeteria pizza has very little sauce and about 500 calories a slice. It's not healthy
User avatar #45 to #44 - Kadzait ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]

Oh, look I can find sources that back up my argument too, go **** yourself, I'm not dealing with your ******** anymore.

also you really didn't take the opportunity to make a sauce pun? why the **** are you on FJ?

The funny thing is that I could have sworn that right before this fatism (or whatever the **** it's called) seems to have been the response to the fact that we were trying to promote that whole "get fit America!" idea and then the tumblr crowd started their special snowflake ********
User avatar #28 to #7 - capslockrage ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]
The USA actually doesn't have "such high obesity rates"

it's not much higher than the rest of the world, and isn't even the highest.
#33 to #28 - anon (08/13/2014) [-]
I'm just talking about in general, the USA was just an example.
User avatar #80 to #33 - frenzyhero ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]

Because fat people don't really hurt anyone? and you're just acting like an asshole and will never accomplish anything?
#34 to #29 - anon (08/13/2014) [-]
They're costing the health care system money with their quadruple bypasses.

Also they're hurting themselves and there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to help your fellow man improve themselves for the better. They are living their lives wrong and obviously need help. They're making the wrong life decisions.
User avatar #67 to #29 - wimwam (08/13/2014) [-]
Two major problems with that:
1. Healthcare costs. Medical problems directly related to obesity are in the hundreds of billions. Medical problems indirectly related to obesity cost an untold amount more than that.
2. Family/friends. As a parent, sibling, or friend: unhealthy habits rub off on those you are supposed to be an example for. When a family member dies or is hospitalized for a completely preventable illness, it does incredible emotional damage to those closest to you.
User avatar #68 to #67 - capslockrage ONLINE (08/13/2014) [-]
1. drug/alcohol/people doing stupid things cost multiple times more than the obesity bills
2. really? that's circumstantial ******** , you can't say people aren't allowed to be fat just because their family might be sad.

there is no argument for you to make, if someone wants to be fat and they don't care, there is no reason to give them **** and make an attempt at making them feel bad.
#91 to #68 - wimwam (08/13/2014) [-]
1. Cost is substantially higher for obesity & obesity related illnesses. Even if it weren't (but it is), it falls under the "preventable causes"
2. People are allowed to do what they want, but that doesn't mean there aren't consequences for themselves, their families, and other people around them.

I never said one should "give them **** " and "make them feel bad". I think they should receive support and help in making changes toward a healthy lifestyle. My point is the benefit of doing so impacts not only them, but the people who come in contact with them.

something isn't right about that picture, "US economic costs of SUGAR(???) versus other drugs"

So the picture is saying it's sugar that causes all this obesity?
User avatar #100 to #99 - wimwam (08/14/2014) [-]
Yeah the title is a little silly but if you go to the source, the caption below states that it is healthcare costs. Sugar is obviously a big contributor to diabetes and obesity. Anyway that was only one graph, there are many others like it

In a first world nation where double cheeseburgers are a $1 and a salad is like $5 which typically includes salty croutons and creamy dressings that can cancel out the healthy part of a salad , it's not easy to get fit, but it also isn't THAT hard. Just get off your ass, take a jog around the block a few times a week, and stop eating **** everybody on Earth already knows is bad for you. That would be at least a step in the right direction.
User avatar #61 to #54 - shinote (08/13/2014) [-]
Also, as was pointed out on a previous fat post, it's a basic equation to lose weight.

Caloric Intake - Caloric expenditure = X

If X is a negative number, you are LOSING WEIGHT
If X is a positive number, you are GAINING WEIGHT.

It's very simple. Every time you eat or drink, you take in calories. Every time you move, you expend (or burn) calories. If you burn more than you take in, you are losing weight.
User avatar #62 to #61 - loonquawl (08/13/2014) [-]
Why I take shots of whiskey and suck on a lemon wedge as a chaser rather then have a soda chaser. Less calories than beer, and still get drunk without all those extra calories.

I'm fat (not like morbid obesity level because I still lift n **** ) but I know it's not good for me and I don't feel entitled for something that is partially my own fault. I also don't expect people to view me as beautiful or healthy, because, simply put, I'm not.
