Its body control. Thats what people don't get about so many martial arts moves, this is a training technique that teaches you to control your body and momentum so that you can turn a missed kick into a second kick, so you keep going instead of kicking and missing and being ****** .

Exactly. Like Aikido (which I study) everything you learn before blue belt is training technique, meant to teach you the basics and build your body so you can handle the actual combat technique.
