I think that Batman's goal was to be a symbol for justice, something for criminals to fear. If it was just Bruce Wayne going around fighting crime, it just wouldn't be the same.

I think, after awhile, it has to do with the Robin's he raises. In discovering his identity, it puts Dick, Tim, Damian and Bab's in danger.
There's also Alfred.

And maybe the fact that, as Batman, he ignores most laws, and has basically caused
plenty of destruction to the city. Along with assault (even though most was self defense). He'd probably be deemed as a threat, and arrest him (and maybe his side kicks as well).

ya know, there are a lot of people working for Wayne Enterprises who could get hurt if the villains would find out that bruce is batman. also, he hides the fact that he's batman from the people who don't need to know it. most of the justice league members know he's bruce wayne. i think he doesn't tell gordon because he tries to keep his relationship with him as far of the public eye as possible (him being a vigilante and all).
