honest opinion, since Im adult I cant relate to Peter.
he comes off as whiney kid.

Too bad marvel brought him back.

Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker is what Bella is for teenage girls: A shell of a character you're supposed to imagine yourself as. It's the only explanation I have for why they'd choose to make Peter Parker a "hipster, skateboarding, punk". Peter Parker is supposed to be the nerdy guy with the associated life problems who then has to also figure out being a superhero. He's not supposed to be some ambiguously cool dude who becomes even cooler and gets the girl when he becomes spiderman.

I did like the Spiderman antics, but at times I felt they were approaching douchebag levels.
#105 to #5 - officialjg (04/13/2014) [-]
I don't think he plays a horrible Peter Parker at all, just a different type of Peter Parker. I think the writers were trying to go for the modern-day teenager angle. Granted, most of us hate modern-day teenagers(or what are participation of what we think all modern teenagers are like) and that's probably why we don't linger on to this particularly Peter Parker. But I did, anyway. I understood the character in Amazing Spider-man and why he was sometimes a punk. He's still an outcast, he's still shy; and, realistically, if you went through the **** he went through you probably wouldn't be a happy teenager either. I can accept this Peter Parker and he does learn to be better at the end. The scene were he finally brings the eggs to Aunt May was a sweet moment

It might be just me because I overall think Andrew Garfield does a much better job then Tobey did. Sorry purists but Tobey kind of sucked

His Peter Parker is insanely emo. Granted, his uncle, dad and mom is dead, but seriously, its a comic movie, no need to be insanely emo.

My only complaint about Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker is that it's harder to believe he's a genius, he just kinda acts like a punk teenager. But as a whole, I think the new Spider-Man movies are way, WAY better than the Sam Raimi ones.

It's weird, I thought the same thing. He's good at the Spiderman antics, but not good at being Peter Parker. He needs to be more shy and recluse as Peter, and needs to tone his ******* hair down a bit.

User avatar #7 to #5 - jcllcj (04/13/2014) [-]
Yeah he sucks as Peter Parker but does an amazing Spider-Man. Which is weird cause I always thought Tobey Macguire was a great Peter Parker but a horrible Spider-Man. Then again there aren't a lot of superhero movies where the actor acts differently for the superhero and their secret identity.
User avatar #8 to #7 - thechosentroll (04/13/2014) [-]
DOOOOOOD! We need a movie where Toby plays Peter Parker and Andrew plays Spider-man. That may actually end up being awesome.

#64 to #7 - John Cena (04/13/2014) [-]
Toby sucked as peter, and so does Andrew, we need an actual nerdy, cluts, that looks like he can't even take out a fly. Toby is to silly, and tries to act cool, spiderman 1 was alright, but after that it was horrible. Andrew is acting like a hipster, with a skateboard, he tries to act cool, which I hate, but at least he got the nerdy down quite well.

User avatar #90 to #43 - TheFixer (04/13/2014) [-]
he's the 11th and 12th doctor. here's how it goes
1-8 are the same then war doctor is 9th, Christopher eccleston is 10th, David Tennant is 11th and then 12th cause he spent a regeneration to save himself from dying but he kept his face by funneling the excess energy into his severed hand. then matt is 13th doctor peter capaldi is 14th doctor
User avatar #92 to #90 - zomitlu (04/13/2014) [-]
No, David is the Tenth Doctor

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, War Doctor, 9, 10 + Meta crisis doctor, 11, 12

War Doctor isn't "the doctor", he ditched that title in that incarnation

Meta crisis doesn't count as he's a clone and again not titled as a Doctor
User avatar #93 to #92 - TheFixer (04/13/2014) [-]
im not saying the meta crisis is a doctor did you even see the matt smith regeneration? he broke it down for you. the war doctor cost a regeneration and when tennant was shot by a dalek and he funneled it into his hand that cost a regeneration
User avatar #94 to #93 - zomitlu (04/13/2014) [-]
Yeah I know that

Your point?
User avatar #95 to #94 - TheFixer (04/13/2014) [-]
my point is that since it cost a regeneration the numbering is off. also at the end of day of the doctor, the war doctor became the doctor again before the regeneration. also tennant and smith forgave him "you were the doctor more than anyone else" "you were the doctor when it wasn't possible to get it right" so yeah the war doctor is the 9th doctor
User avatar #96 to #95 - zomitlu (04/13/2014) [-]
Steven Moffat confirmed that Capaldi is the 12th doctor, it was also in the episode.
User avatar #97 to #96 - TheFixer (04/13/2014) [-]
im still saying that since it cost a regeneration it counts towards the number. which makes sense since the doctor had to be given a whole new set of regenerations. capaldi is the 14th doctor. matt even said "regeneration number 13"
User avatar #98 to #97 - zomitlu (04/13/2014) [-]
"doctor" is a title, not an incarnation number.

war doctor and meta crisis weren't doctors.
User avatar #101 to #98 - TheFixer (04/13/2014) [-]
listen to my words carefully.

im not saying meta crisis clone is a doctor

im saying that tennant used a regeneration when the meta crisis was created. he used a regeneration then cause he didn't want the after affects to kick in i.e. face change and disorientation he funneled the rest into his hand.

he still USED UP ONE of his regenerations to do that effectively making him the 11th and 12th incarnations with the same face.

I am however disputing the war doctor not being a doctor. "you were the doctor when it wasn't possible to get it right" "you were the doctor more than anyone" and also at the end of day of the doctor john hurt aka war doctor specifically said "I am the doctor again" before he regenerated into Christopher eccleston.
User avatar #104 to #101 - zomitlu (04/13/2014) [-]
I know he used up one of his regenerations, I never denied that

That doesn't change the fact that he dropped the title completely. He's still considered the War Doctor and nothing will change that.

Toby was a better Peter Parker.
Andrew is a better Spider-man.

They're WAY better. Notice that Toby Maguire never stopped any of the villains, they always did themselves in Willam Defoe in the Power Rangers costume impales himself on the Goblin Glider, Doc Ock wants to hug the sun, Sand-Man just kinda gives up and Venom pulls a Bruno Mars and catches a grenade At least When your hero doesn't even have to be there to reach the same ending, you've got a problem.

#109 to #80 - captainwow (04/13/2014) [-]
Yeah but couple THAT with THIS, and you don't have a very impressive superhero. It's more of a combination of the two Toby's acting, ****** writing than one singular thing.
#110 to #109 - fozzoul ONLINE (04/13/2014) [-]
I see your point, altough i actually liked Toby's Peter Parker. Peter is a poor bullied guy who gets no respect from anyone in the first movie, and i think Toby really portrays that really well. Altough i agree that his acting wasnt superb at all times, i liked it in the end. It was good enough, so to speak.

Like i said though, i havent seen the new one, so i cant really compare the two.
User avatar #113 to #110 - captainwow (04/13/2014) [-]
Yeaaah I can get that, he played the bullied role pretty well, but I liked him better as the snappy, witty type I recommend the Amazing Spider-Man movie, it's worth a watch since Spider-Man was always making wise-cracks, but the closest Toby ever came was:
"You're out of here, Spider-Man"
"You're out, Gobby. Out of your mind.

I have nothing but contempt for the reboot of the Spider-Man series. Horribly cast Spider-Man, a villain whose motives are completely phoned in, a frankly hideous visual design (why did the web shooters need ******* muzzle flare?), the list goes on. The reboot only exists because Sony bought the rights to Spider-Man franchising and wanted to make a buck. So the marked all the ticks on the "blockbuster" checklist and threw a bunch of money at the closest movie execs they could find. Raimi's series wasn't perfect, but at least that man had some directorial dignity and took creative chances. Reboot looks like some movie-producing robot took a boring, homogenized **** and made it shiny. Seriously, **** the reboot.
