In defense of OP (I hate writing that) he never directly refers to weed. He just says that he got high and that it was good shit.
The man in the picture appears to be smoking weed, but that's operating under an assumption. It could even just be a cigarette.

Combining "sensory stimulants" and "neurological retardants" can cause you to hallucinate. No, you aren't going to go on some magical fucking cartoon trip. But it does cause auditory hallucinations and mild visual hallucinations.

I've been smoking weed since I was 8 years old.

I've been smoking for a good while too, and maybe I used to wrong terminology, so let me clear it up.

By "sensory stimulant" I mean that you are more aware of subtleties you may not have noticed before such as white noise, subtle qualities in flavors of food, or excruciating detail in a work of art.

By neurological retardant, I meant that it literally slows down some receptors in your brain which, by the way, can be used to treat epilepsy. The effect of this include a distorted sense of time, motion blur, and slight fish-eye effect.

None of these constitute the allegation that it is a hallucinogen. Unless laced with another substance, weed will not make you perceive things that are not actually there.

Becoming more aware of subtleties, and simultaneously being impared to judge what these new somethings are can cause hallucinations.... not trips. You are confusing a trip with a hallucination; seeing / hearing something that isn't necessarily there or happening.

For example, when taking all this in to mind with what my ex's first trip was (her arms "growing") combined with your own words, we can easily figure out why she thought her arms were growing...

I study biomedical engineering... so I'm not exactly the biggest bio major, but I specify in neural engineering... and the effect it has on the brain (long-term) is barely noticeable... and the negative effects it has on the body other than the damage to lungs from smoking them out - which is still less than the disgusting effects of cigars- is pretty damn small....

I don't smoke weed, never will. The only reason I ever say to not smoke weed to people is just to respect the law... But lately I don't even care about the law... The farther you get in the fields of science, the more you want to murder politicians and big corporations... But just cause I don't like doing it, doesn't mean other people shouldn't have at it! Just please for the love of GOD don't smoke cigars or drink alcohol or do any other drug. Cause that hurts the people around you more than just you.
