I agree with you for the most part. And I too get annoyed when people who know nothing or little about weed asociate it with hallucinations.

But technically speaking it's IS a hallucinogenic. Although very different and nearly not as mind-altering as the classic psychedelic drugs like LSD, Mescaline, DMT and Magic Mushrooms.

On rare occasions on high doses of THC I do experience hallucinations to some degree.
Auditory and visual hallucinations.
Although it usually only is limited to Closed-Eyes Visuals and fractal patterns or some trails,
it's definitely possible to hallucinate on Weed. I speak out of experience.

And having done a lot drugs, with psychedelic drugs in particular, I do know what it is like to truly trip your balls off.
And I must say that Weed does not compare.

Trails make sense but me and a friend smoked an oz in a day and there were no hallucinations. You must have to ingest a ludicrous amount of weed to have hallucinations.

(inb4 we got a badass) I'm not badass I just have a relevant comment.

A few times I even had LSD-like experiences on weed, and I didn't even smoke that much. (At least not much more than usual.)

Open- and Closed Eyes Visual, complete with fractals, patterns, colors, objects ripple/breath/melt/morph/shift, auditory and visual echoes, detachment from thoughts and ego, experience other dimensions, time becomes meaningless, literally see images forming in your mind etc. etc.

But these experiences are very rare, out of the innumerable that I have smoked. (literally thousands of times, just to give you an idea) I can count the times that I actually hallucinated on weed on both hands.

And I've had days too where we smoked many grams a day, even up to (or nearly) an ounce, and I would be no different than usual. Just very stoned/high.
So it doesn't seem like you have to have a ludicrous amount of THC in your blood.

But then again, they might also be LSD flashbacks in my case.
Apparently it's a common phenomena amongst (ex)psychedelic drug users.
And weed is known to trigger them.

So, who knows...

I don't know. All I can say is that I've never done acid but I've smoked for years and I've never had anything that I would equate to tripping other than the very first time I smoked. But I think that was more likely because I had no point of reference. I've done shrooms before and that shit was pretty awesome but I don't have intentions of buying any again but I would probably do some if a friend had them. Based on what you've told me it seems more likely that the acid was a factor. But again, like I said I've never done acid so I can't give a really informed opinion on it.

Having your perception change and hallucinating are two different things.

And I've smoked weed that made me so high I was throwing up but I never hallucinated.

I haven't LITERALLY felt like I was in a Koleidoscope. Not litterally seeing shit, but being in your own world and not being aware of your surroundings, and saying stupid things.

I've tripped pretty hard before but never seen shit. I just get paranoid when I smoke

You might think so because you've never been high before. Granted, weed doesn't do that to you...But hallucinogenics do. And if you'd ever been on one, you'd know that things can end up exactly like that. And for us who have tried such things, it makes us laugh.

Well yeah, if you're the one doing them. But watching other people do them is funny. Just like it's not funny when you fall off the water tower, but watching Kelso do it was hilarious.
