mynameisjoeyftw (01/16/2012) [-] Ok first of all, for those of you who have never smoked marijuana it does not make you retarded and a "stoner" like people think. That is purely a fad people take up to look cool which is just rediculous, it does not make you a hippie. My brother is one of the smartest people i know, he graduated with a masters from yale and is now a lawyer and he has been smoking marijuana almost daily for 10+ years to calm his nerves, i have been smoking it for 3 years and not one person can tell by just looking it me, its a stress reviler, not a retardation cigarette so to speak, yes legalizing it would increase the amount of people that smoke it but it does not mean everyone is going to go retarded in the nation, several people will pose as hippies but you can only control yourself. It will be almost just as common to see today as it will be if it is legalized, and for all the people saying the prices will rise yes that is true, but there will still be an underground market to buy and grow your own marijuana which will most likely stay the same general price i believe, because if dealers keep their prices the same they will get more and more customers who dont want to pay the full price. all im saying is not to much will change if it is legalized, just that you wont be breaking the law anymore by smoking it.

Weed should be treated like alcohol. Such as no smoking in public, public intoxication is reprimand-able, only smoke in closed cafe's or homes, license to sell, and much more.
Crime rate would go down, who would try to sell something illegally when you could buy it yourself?
