My roommate actually said the exact same thing. You associate the smell with good feelings and a good time, and therefore it becomes a positive sensation. For me however, as a non-smoker, I associate the smell of weed with having to deal with my roommate's shit when he comes back at 4am baked out of his mind reeking of the stuff and waking me up, and now even the slightest whiff of it repulses me.

Let me rephrase it. To anyone that's never smoked pot it smells like nothing but musty shit.

I smoke cigs, and I agree with you completely. It is a respect thing. If someone doesn't drink, don't force them to watch you or smell you. Same for tobacco or pot. Even other things fit under it, like loud music. Be respectful and get it in return.

Now thats one thing I cant stand, loud music. I honestly dont mind anyones choice of music, even if I dont like it Im ok with it, but you can hear it bro you dont need to blare it.

When Im by myself I cant even stand music that loud, so Ive just never understood the whole blaring music thing altogether. I live in the country to, so theres no problem with what youre doing. Moreover, unless they have enough proof (A call from someone saying that his neighbor deals isn't) to get a warrant they can't get into his house so he doesn't have much to fear from her trying to be an ass.

I feel calling the cops is a little extreme. You could just talk to your neighbor first, getting arrested for drug crimes can fuck his future up, he might just be stupid and unaware that the smell travels throughout the building

I personally disagree. Even if he/she didn't know BEFORE the paper was posted, they knew after and continued anyway. And I am sure they would have picked up something through the grapevine before hand about the smell. And to put the weed there as a reply is just assinine behavior and shows gross disrespect and stupidity. I would make sure to let the police know, and give them the paper and joint so they could get fingerprints and go from there. This is obviously an apartment building or something similar where people live, including children. Obviously I know weed is harmless, but small children shouldn't have it, even if just in case they showed a teacher and CPS was called on the parents. Things like this tend to have reactions in wave, and you can't predict all the possible fallout it could bring.

THC isnt as addictive as nicotine. though few things are (nicotine has been compared to heroin for addiction)

weed is addictive to a certain extent. but obviously nicotine is bad.

Weed is not physically addictive though, in that you do not get withdrawal symptoms from stopping smoking.

It is only addicitve in the sense that people develop a mental dependency on it for other reasons (such as dealing with depression, where it only aleiviates symptoms and does not tackle the route of the problem) and in the sense that all good things in live are worth endlessly repeating.

I'd also like to emphasize that I have nothing against people who smoke cigarettes. It's their life, they can do whatever.

Their addiction doesn't really justify anything. I know people who will defend smoking cigarettes until they're blue in the face and then turn around and talk about how bad marijuana legalization would be. You could smoke cigarettes all you want but at least have the balls to admit that they're probably one of the worst things for you and are actually proven to be worse than weed.

well weed has been shown to cause depression later on due to burnouts of brain receptors that release dopamine. I would prefer cigarettes to be legal simply because it kills.

"marijuana doesn't cause cancer" is the same as saying "smoking tobacco doesn't cause cancer" in the 70's or something and anyway the way i see the logic in cancer is that it is an error in cloning cells in your body and can be cause by any change if it is the slightest it can cause an error and they will start duplicating at an uncontrolled rate and in most cases just cause a relatively harmless tumor but with a risk of it going rouge and instinctively spread to other organs

all in all you can get cancer from anything that causes a significant change or introduces a material into the body... like milk can in a sense cause cancer but the chance is so much lower compared to something like tobacco that introduces nicotine into the body and the other things in the smoke that damages the lungs can make the cells trying to repair them by duplicating might get an error in the process and boom; lung cancer

actually it has been found recently that there are no long term negative effects and if you're smoking joints the problem lies in the paper not everyone smokes joints the safest way is to use a glass water pipe or a vaporizer as this helps filter out tar and other things that can have negative health effects

Smoking anything in great amounts gives you cancer. It's not nearly as quick as cigarettes but it can happen. Very rarely does marijuana cause cancer but there are about 3 modern cases of it.

Where is the scientific proof of marijuana killing cancerous cells? There is none. My grandfather used medicinal marijuana when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He had been diagnosed early and the cancer had not spread very far. Why didn't the weed help? Because it doesn't CURE anything, it helps with pain and suffering. You're the fucking retarded one.

Also, you should note that in America many of the prisons are private establishments. They are peoples businesses, and by being able to imprison non-threatening drug users for long periods of time they are ensuring they can make money with little risk.

MANY products are produced by incarcerated workers. Prison is one of the fastest growing industries in the US; no society in history has imprisoned more of its people than America. It creates jobs: cops, prison staff, etc., and the prisoners don't get any of the benefits that normal workers get, like vacation time (duh), a paycheck, etc.

It's an extremely profitable industry that is continuing to expand. Wall Street criminals are making more and more money investing in the prison system, while more and more pot smokers get locked up.

Maybe we should step out of the box and examine what causes people to do drugs in the first place. We have a society that thrives on war, competition, violence, hard work, and struggle and glorifies drug usage through the media.

Nearly every person has some way that they deal with stress. It is human nature. Don't be so quick to judge people who smoke pot. Of course, if they are obnoxious, peer pressuring stoner assholes, go ahead and judge them, but if they keep to themselves, let them be.

part of the issue isnt even wanting weed legalized, its fighting the government for whats right. im sure you have family who smokes cigarettes, what if tobacco became illegal and they were all taken to a federal level prison for doing something not even that bad. If someone wants to put something into their body don't you feel they should be able to? You make good points, and I'd agree that the government focuses far too much on pot with very minimal results, but here's my stance:

You can't honestly say that weed is good for people on the whole. Only a very small percentage of people who smoke it are doing it to gain a legitimate medical benefit from it (I limit this mostly to cancer patients), but those who smoke it recreationally are typically a lot worse off than those who don't use some sort of drug. You can't make the case that the average stoner is better than the average straightedge because it's simply not true. I recognize that alcohol and cigarettes are worse for you, but why should the government support and legalize another drug that does more harm than good for its populace? Furthermore it's been shown that pot usage drastically rises in countries after they legalize or even decriminalize it, which simply can't be good for a country.

By the way he phrased his comment, I doubt he himself is a stoner.
