mfw people don't know that marijuana has more tar than a cigarrete, which has carcinogens which raise your chances of cancer. lulz, ill see you guys in hell after i reach 80.

I know this is a few days old, but smoking isn't the only way to use cannabis. While smoking is the most popular way it is the most harmful, but you can also vaporize it, or cook it into brownies or other foods. There are no dangerous carcinogens in cannabis vapor or edibles
#366 to #332 - abstract (02/11/2012) [-]
mfw stoners disregard any bad outcomes of smoking and over emphasize the very few benefits it has and try to make it sound like a miracle drug
User avatar #359 to #332 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Why has no one ever got cancer from weed?
User avatar #363 to #359 - abstract (02/11/2012) [-]
it's difficult to do studies on weed because of it being illegal. certain groups have started long term studies just recently and conclusive findings have not been published yet. smoke is smoke and during an autopsy it will be labeled as smoking, which is of course grouped with cigarettes.
User avatar #365 to #363 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
There's no proof that it does and with the recent legalization of weed in some states I'm pretty sure they can do research with it. Never once caused a human death ever. They tried so hard to prove that it would kill someone they locked 4 monkeys in a room pumping nothing but Marijuana smoke and yes they eventually did die. But who wouldn't?
User avatar #378 to #365 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]
You're failing to realize that it's been legalized by the state. It's still federally illegal.
User avatar #385 to #378 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Yeah but I have seen documentaries where on camera doctors do studies involving weed.
#399 to #385 - leiot (02/11/2012) [-]
Well, there's your problem... On-camera doesn't chronicle the long-term effect of anything... But I would like a source to these videos nonetheless... you know, to educate myself...
User avatar #406 to #399 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Super High Me, The Union , A Normal Life, and How Weed Won the West.

... I mean a non-biased study by a reputable institution. Not by people who intentionally set out to prove how "great" weed is.
User avatar #410 to #408 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Show me a non-biased video about how weed isn't good for you.
#428 to #410 - leiot (02/11/2012) [-]
I can't, because I wouldn't rely on a video to teach anyone about the long-term effects of any drug. (I was being sarcastic in post #399)
User avatar #396 to #385 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]
I've seen intervention where they have people snorting coke and shooting up heroine on camera...That still doesn't mean it's easy to legally test it.
User avatar #400 to #396 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
I seen doctors do it on camera whether it was legal of them to do it or not. They can still test.
User avatar #403 to #400 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]
My point is just because the state legalizes it doesn't necessarily make it easy to do long term testing. There's all kinds of regulations and legal hoops you have to jump through to do that kind of shit without getting in trouble. And even when you're doing everything right it doesn't take much for the government to shut your shit down.
User avatar #411 to #403 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Your point is?
User avatar #416 to #411 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]
My point was clearly stated in sentence 1.
User avatar #421 to #416 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
How is it not easy?
User avatar #370 to #365 - abstract (02/11/2012) [-]
the same outcome would be prevalent with cigarette smoke. and the legalization was what in january? its hard to do a case study of someone over a 20 year period in a month...

you know how you can look back at those crazy 1940's ads where doctors recommend cigarettes and think how crazy and stupid people were? thats going to be human's thoughts about weed in 50 years
User avatar #383 to #370 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
But think People have died from lung cancer no need for a study there is actual proof .Death. But not once has a person EVER died from weed smoking.
User avatar #390 to #383 - abstract (02/11/2012) [-]
lung cancer is caused by tar in the lungs. it is a proven fact that marijuana smoke has much more tar in it than cigarettes. i dont care if there hasnt been a credible study done on the long term effects of marijuana use yet, i can connect the dots and realize that it can cause lung cancer.
User avatar #398 to #390 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Can show me a credible website that states that it has more tar?Marijuana is natural how can it possibly have more tar than a cigarette.
#402 to #398 - leiot (02/11/2012) [-]
Tobacco is "natural" too...
User avatar #409 to #402 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Although Nicotine is bred in tobacco plants to get plants with the highest nicotine which is also addictive. Also Nicotine is one of the most dangerous natural poisons in the world, so poisonous that it is even put on fields to kill insects. So it's not as natural as Marijuana.
#414 to #409 - leiot (02/11/2012) [-]
Yes, but it's incredibly difficult to intake an immediately poisonous amount of Nicotine from smoking alone, and "natural" doesn't mean "healthy," dude... It means NATURE-al, which tobacco is...
User avatar #419 to #414 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
No it might be Difficult on one cigarette but when you say 1-4 a day for 20 years that's pretty dangerous.I never said natural meant healthy it's just more healthy than chemicals.
#425 to #419 - leiot (02/11/2012) [-]
Try more like 1-4 PACKS a day. The amount of nicotine in tobacco is actually very minimal. It takes about 35 mg of nicotine to be immediately dangerous. An average cigarette has about 1 mg of nicotine in it.

you don't even know what carcinogens means you scumfuck

User avatar #341 to #332 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]
You're correct but you also have to remember that no pot smoker will smoke as much weed in a day as a cigarette smoker smokes in a day. Also vaporizers and water pipes help filter a lot of the tar and shit out. Not all of it but it certainly helps.
User avatar #356 to #341 - sumakabob **User deleted account** (02/11/2012) [-]
I asked someone how much pot they smoke. With a straight face, he told me a pound a week. A pound a week.
#460 to #356 - TigerShark ONLINE (02/14/2012) [-]
I know this is a few days old but that is fucking impossible. First of all a pound of mid grade weed would cost from 4-6 thousand dollars, I dont know about you, I don't know a single highschooler who could afford to buy a pound every week. Second, I've been smoking a while so my tolerance is somewhat high. I usually buy by the gram, and one gram of some decent weed will last me a few days if i smoke every day. Now i'm not high 24/7 like this kid is, but i'm assuming a gram or maybe two would last someone a whole day. Smoking a pound a week would require someone to smoke 64 grams of weed in a day. Either that guy was bullshitting you, or you're bullshitting us. But either way you know nothing about weed...
User avatar #393 to #356 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
Impossible. That's like 27 blunts a day everyday nonstop. And that would cost so much money it's not even possible.
User avatar #373 to #356 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]
I've never met anyone that smokes that much weed. That's more than 2 ounces a day. To do that you would need to smoke nonstop all day. They're either lying to you or they seriously wake up every morning and smoke with absolutely no breaks until they go to sleep.
User avatar #379 to #373 - sumakabob **User deleted account** (02/11/2012) [-]
I have him in all of my academic classes. He sleeps through all of them, and when he's actually awake, he's in the bathroom smoking weed.

User avatar #384 to #380 - sumakabob **User deleted account** (02/11/2012) [-]
Eight, maybe nine if you include the five minutes between classes, lunch, and the few minutes before school (where everyone gathers at the lake and...smokes weed...).
User avatar #395 to #384 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]
That guy is a bullshitter dude. There aren't enough hours in the day to smoke more than two ounces to yourself if you actually do things like sleep and school and eat.

There's always after school.
User avatar #405 to #401 - cjklefty (02/11/2012) [-]

But it does have THC in it. So your point is?
#420 to #412 - leiot (02/11/2012) [-]
... Did you just read my comment and comment without reading the conversation...? Okay, I'll explain it to you: THC will slow the growth of cancer a little, but the fact that marijuana contains almost 3 times the amount of carcinogens as cigarettes probably more than compensates for that.
User avatar #422 to #420 - Zonk (02/11/2012) [-]
But it doesn't contain 3 times more. Where did you hear this?
#426 to #422 - leiot (02/11/2012) [-]
Forgive me, I meant 3 times more tar and almost twice the carcinogens. Source:

There have been studies that show that marijuana can possibly slow certain kinds of cancers but it's not all cancer in general and nothing has been proven yet.

The tar within the weed starts emphysema which is what most smokers die from. Smokers don't die from smoking weed, but they die because of smoking weed, fucking dumbasses. You men who supported that weed is still bad have my props. Respect broz.
User avatar #453 to #435 - cjklefty (02/12/2012) [-]
Thanks but I don't think weed is bad. I think some people are just stupid when they smoke but they're usually the kind of people that are stupid either way. I believe weed is bad for you but I still think it should be legal because it doesn't hurt anyone other than the person smoking it. Almost everyone I know that smokes are responsible people that have jobs and lives and do what they need to do and just enjoy smoking a bowl every now and then. Personally I don't have a problem with that and I only have a problem with the retards that don't need a drug that makes them even dumber.
User avatar #457 to #453 - SuperVenatus (02/12/2012) [-]
I completely agree with that, most of my friends are potheads anyways, and some of them are in IB, what matters is doing it a lot, as you said. As long as you control it, you're good.
