What is this. So a few days ago, after i had watched the hatefull eight (Great movie btw) a thought just hit me. When Pearl was fighting Sugilite, i thought was

So a few days ago, after i had watched the hatefull eight (Great movie btw) a thought just hit me. When Pearl was fighting Sugilite, i thought was didn't she just shapeshift her body to get as big as Sugilite. Then i thought "Pearl said they can shapeshift PARTS of their body." And i was gonna let it rest... until i saw the part in episode 27 or 28 where Amethyst said "shrink down" And then i was just thinking to myself "If Gems can shrink down, that must mean they can get larger, and if that's the case WHY THE F*** DIDN'T PEARL JUST SHAPESHIFT TO GET LARGER?!"
But i realize i'm talking about the same one who said she likes pie yet thinks eating food is disgusting.

because its stressful on the gem
and if a gem would retain the same amount of power regardless the size, i would rather be a bullet than a mountain that has the strengh of wet paper

It was done even before that actually, when amethyst first poofed. She took a form much bigger and "stronger" and garnet said it was too stressful of a form for her.

To be fair about the pie thing, one of the guys on the Crewniverse said Pearl likes pie, as in the process of baking.

Pearl likes the process of making pie, not eating it.

And we've seen recently that Gem's stretching their bodies too far can hurt them. and an increase in size doesn't necessarily mean an increase in strength, unless it's fusion.
All pearl would have ended up with was a larger, more ungainly body that wasn't stronger and would probably have been a little slower and presented a much larger target for Sugilite.

In that moment she needed all her strength, speed and agility, so Pearl stuck to what she knew, her own regular sized form, because it's what she had the most experience fighting with.

summoning takes some time. and i had the same idea but summoning a trainign dummy to stop an enemy is kidna useless
