Because it's on-going and I'll argue that it's a legitimately good show.
This hate for it because Tumblrites like it is a load of ******** . The show isn't made for them like people like aquaekk makes it sound. Yes, 3 of the main characters are genderless, but they are still very obviously feminine. It's because they're a race of space rocks that take on fake human forms.
The show has some damn good writing, art, and animation. Hell, it's one of the only shows actually being hand-drawn now.
**** the fandom. If you really want to know, watch the show yourself to make your own opinion.
It's the simplest, most easy way to explain it without confusing people or being biased.
Just mention Tumblr. If they hate Tumblr, they'll dodge the show and miss their chance. If they're willing to give it a go, pass all the criticism, then that's someone who's okay to have in a fandom.
I disagree. The tumblr spin off stuff is a warped reinterpretation of the show and holds so little of it's charm. >>#167 is a much better description IMO.
Tumblr doesn't even like tumblr. I've seen complaints from some tumblr users talking about how some of the fan base reacted angrily to their AU/shipping/semi-porn so there are tumblr users who don't like that stuff. Tumblr is a circlejerk of one's own creation. You choose what you see.
That's actually a pretty basic reaction. When something gets hyped here and there and you just don't understand what's so good about it. even if the thing is not bad, you start to hate it. I had the same reaction to K-ON! some years ago.
Well Warhammer 40k in general is obnoxious and loud, that's kind of the point. A bunch of Metal as **** buff dudes screaming zealotic warcries be it "BLOOD FOR THR BLOOD GOD", "FOR THE EMPORER", "WAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGH" or any other possibilities.
There are literal factions designed on the utilization of earrape:
1. Steven Universe's characters are humans and humanoids.
2. Steven Universe is the best animated show currently airing, and may end up the greatest of all time.
MLP was good, but couldn't stand up to Adventure Time or Archer and doesn't come close to The Last Airbender or Rick & Morty. SU is already as good as the best of these, and can clearly get better. But so can the other airing shows. Only time will tell which of these are GOAT.
Faggots like you are why It's going to go the way of MLP.
The reason that it's different from MLP are massive, however that means **** all when the primary issues weren't with the show, but rather the fandom.
Stop being so secure and pretencious in calling it the greatest show of all time.
Yes, it'sva good show in an age where Cartoon Network is vastly declining in quality.
But stop publically masturbating your opinion as absolute truth.
I never called it the greatest of all time. I never proclaimed my opinion to be absolute truth. I'm saying that I don't think Steven Universe is not going to be "the next MLP", although I should append that objection. It may be the next MLP here if the trend of everyone hating it for no good reason continues.
A big problem with MLP is that due to all the characters being ponies it limited creativity but most importantly it really made pictures of the show get stale faster due to less diversity and less human expression possible.
MLP is a really crazy example of how a fandom can turn a show to **** . Goodness gracious a giant amount of MLP content is porn/smut. I think about at least 50% of it is. How did that happen?
I've probably been exposed to more MLP fan content than any sane person would contemplate, and I can tell you that most of it is not porn or smut. But a great deal of it is, a still uncomfortable amount, really.
But MLP's fandom is not much different from any comparable fandom apart from its scale and notoriety, and when a massive, undulating cloud of content is exposed the way MLP's fandom got exposed, the most shocking elements bubble to the surface. In this case we have made famous the Fallout crossover fanfictions, "Cupcakes", and the copious porn, because these things are most starkly opposed to preconceptions about cheerful, colourful ponies and their 'girly' adventures in Equestria.
Why isn't ATLA's fandom getting the same exposure? Why haven't the writers of all those Danny Phantom stories gotten called out for drooling over a kid's cartoon? They have, absolutely, but you never hear about it, because nothing dredges up the hate like unpopular love for a known entity. MLP is decades old, and practically everybody knew what it was before 2010. So when suddenly a new show props up and a fandom forms around it, praising its technical quality and unique perspective, all anyone on the outside sees is grown men petting little plastic pony dolls and combing their hair.
Maybe that's the key detail. Blood and guts, sex and rape, violence and murder, these things you see in the most famous MLP fan content, these are manly things, surely. Surely no man would simply play with a doll. No, that's just... uncomfortable. It's much easier to not believe.

i'm trying to find a story (not pony related) to go along with this conclusion, i'll be back
half off the show appeal is directly to the neckbeard though
"OMG GAMECUBE GBA I HAD THESE SO TAPPED INTO MY GEEK CULTURE LELELELELEL "
Whilst the nods to games and stuff are nice, it feels like how mlp ended up, with stuffed references to appeal the fanbase and not stay true to the core of the show or something.
GO watch MLP season 1, then watch the rest, the quality difference is staggering. it started off interesting and cute, with nice character builds and story composition, then it went all ' hurr the fanbase think derpy is retarded lets make her retared in the show and call her derpy' Pretty much stopped watching there.
I recently got into the show, and I haven't really seen the fanbase but I've heard it's bad before.
I like the show though. I wasn't so sure about it at first but as if you watch the episodes back to back it's good, imo.
The music is pretty good, animation style is nice, it's and interesting story, and it's fun while still touching on deep topics here and there.
I mean I'm just saying, dont judge a show before you've seen it. It's not like it has had a lot of time to really already have a whole epic overall plot/ storyline to be released already.
This is why I never join the community aspect of anything i do. Everything I like apparently has a **** fanbase that only make things worse than any amount of it better... It's like all the dumb bastards just love swelling together and start circle jerking each other to the point of killing something... It isn't fair sometimes...
Probably going to get thumbed into the bowels of hell, but I feel like a lot of FJ use the whole "I don't belong to this fandom so I hate it" logic that I remember being prevelant back in high school.
It's not being shoved down anybody's throat though. It's just there, you can feel free to skip it, thumb it down, or whatever you wish. I just don't get people complaining about it.
Feel fry to hate whatever you want, but how has this **** been shoved down anybodies' throat? This is the first post about it I've seen break the front page in at least 2 weeks now, and it's your bashing comp.
Your profile pic is ******* Teemo and you're telling people who like one thing not to like it while you go and plaster what you love as your avatar? I haven't watched SU. I play LOL- game's good but community above level 15 is ******* horrible.
Point is, don't suck dick intended for others. You'll get your chance to suck dick when somebody uploads it. But, for now, let the others enjoy what the like.
I still don't see how it's interfering with your **** . Are you trying to say that newest uploads is your personal glory hole or something? Do you still play lol? How long have you been playing for?
over 1500 hours on it, been playing since 2012
i spend a lot of time on fj as well
wether it be fp or newest uploads, and i dont like seeing many of the same kind of post
kind of like how now all you see is baltimore jokes everywhere when the jokes are dead
Heh, no wonder I took an immediate dislike to you. Nothing personal but I find the LOL community to be exceptionally toxic (especially when they're above level 15).
Well, you ARE browsing FJ. The home of the circlejerkception. No matter what you say or do, it'll still keep on coming. And eventually burn down in time.
And the posts are keeping with what's trendy and **** . Sites can't like this can't survive without being trendy. Hell, even the reposts here are relevant to the trends.
It's rarely so much "I don't belong to this fandom so I hate it", but rather, listening to some ******* children talk about how smart, unique and whateverelse their fandom is becomes real old, since it's just a sign of inexperience on their part.
On the other side are all those people who think the show is great and will not shut up about it, even to those who have seen the show and doesn't think it's great.
Like high school I guess.
I honestly think Steven Universe is one of the best cartoons on TV, but then again I haven't really seen the fanbase for myself so I don't know how autistic it is
Yeah, it's a shame. Though, for the most part and this post is a good example , it seems like the fans here are pretty good-natured about some people not liking it. You couldn't say the same for the first wave of mlp fans though they've chilled out over the years .
