He was meant to be though. He was what Anakin should have been, and how they should've portrayed that character.
I like that we see a bad guy toying with the light and not vice versa. I also think Adam Driver gave a good, conflicted performance. Anything he whined about was legitimate as well. No sand ******** or "people don't get me" ******** .

cisdroidcommander (01/12/2016) [-] The sand part wasn't part of Anakin´s whining, the whining was for example when gets mad at Padme in front of the new queen of Naboo and after he slaughtered the Tusken raiders after they killed his mom, which i think is legitimate.

This isn't the era of the Sith where there was a master and an apprentice and they were highly disciplined and trained. This is just a rogue and disgruntled jedi who went haywire half way through some basic training. Sure he might know some cool force tricks and understand it some, but he is a product of a new system that lacks what the traditional jedi and sith had. He just has raw emotion and anger fueling him which sith like dooku and his master learned to control and channel.
Kylo's saber uses a powerful crysal which is so overpowered that it is slightly cracked and needs to vent its power out to the side as well, which is why he has the cross guard going on.

But i agree, that Boy is just like Anakin back their an storm of emotions that can barrely be kept under control. I guess that´s the reason why Luke couldn´t help this idiot, his emotional power stoped him from finding peace, even though the "light side calls for him", making him an weak Jedi.
