I've never seen the whole "miss universe" thing, but I did see a picture of the card he was supposed to read off of and...

Why are the runner ups even on there? Do they announce them? If so, wouldn't it have stood out that he had only called one person to the stage so far? But if he doesn't announce them, then why are they on the card anyways? You'd look at "First" and think 'oh, yeah, that's who I'm supposed to call out as the winner, right?'

Y'know, like he's been doin' for years.

Meh, still a mistake, but I feel like the writers for the card are at fault too.

What happened?

The guy announced that the first runner up to Miss Universe, or whatever, was the winner. Under the "First runner up" part, it says "Miss Universe is: namehere" and he messed up, basically, by saying the First runner up was the winner overall. It was embarrassing because they already put the crown on her... Had to take it off and everything apparently, and the guy apologized a lot for it.

It's also worth noting the card had "2nd runner up" and "1st runner up" more centered, to the left, and, on the bottom right, the winner's name written in tiny letters under the big, bold "MISS UNIVERSE 2015".

When I saw the card I had to look for the "Philippines" because seriously who the **** announces third and second places as "2nd runner up" and "1st runner up". I only knew Colombia was not the winner because of the internet fuss, I would have made the same mistake he did.

Usually competitions announce the third place person, then the winner (thereby its inferred that the other person standing there is the runner up), or else it's anti-climactic. Very basic ****

The runners up are probably there because there's different prices for 2nd and 3rd place.

I feel like a lot of people over look what Obi-Wan Kenobi meant when he told Luke that his father was killed by Vader. Darth Vader did kill Lukes father and he did betray Anakin. Darth Vader consumed the kind loving person people knew as Anakin. But Luke saves Anakin from Vader. Obi lost a friend to a monster thats why he was killed by Vader.

I immediately assumed that was the explanation when I first saw it. I figured he didn't want Luke to be scarred by the truth.

I didn't know people felt anything different until internet.

>>#7, that is the canon explaination. he says "I never lied to you, in a sense"
User avatar #4 to #1 - feelythefeel (01/02/2016) [-]
That makes sense, but you'd think he'd throw in a literal explanation along with his untelegraphed metaphor.

The Jedi love a good metaphor

Isn't that explanation canon? I thought it was.
