If Talos isn't a God, then how come I, the Dragonborn, am the only one to have any noticeable effect from praying at it? You can't explain that!

what is the main ideology of the Stormcloaks and the Empire/Thalmor
I usually join the Stormcloaks, honestly because the name sounds badass (and i like the "age of oppression"), but i was wondering just what is it thats actually trying to be accomplished.
The only difference i find is the 'Cloaks want to be able to worship Talos, the Empire does not; The Empire wants to assimilate Skyrim into Tamriel, the 'Cloaks want to be independent.
Can anyone fill me in on more?

Skyrim has always been part of the empire but the Thalmor (the elves) want to dominate the world. The nords of skyrim are a proud and prideful people and when the empire bent the knee to the thalmor and signed a contract saying that they kind of surrender to the thalmor and will stop worshiping talos.

The stormcloaks thought that made the empire week so they rebelled against the empire and openly worshiped talos. They think they have a better chance against the thalmor alone so they now wish to separate from the empire as a whole

i really hate the Thalmor. There's nothing wrong with high elves but the Thalmor are actually the worst, because all this master race **** . I could say that the Thalmor are actually worse than Nazis. i'm a nord vampire myself.

Well in the elder scrolls universe Talos is a god only because of the fact that people worship him. The worship of his followers is actually what makes him a god and allows him to exist after his physical death on Tamriel. That is why the Thalmor are so adamant about stopping his worship, not because they particularly care about who worships what gods, but because if they stop the worship of Talos he will actually cease to exist, destroying the presence of man among the divines.

There's a few things wrong with your theory

1. If it takes a large amount believers to make someone a divine, does that mean anyone can be a divine? All the other divines have special powers and can give blessings / gifts and aid the races of the world. Can daedric become divines and have massive influential powers without the influence of mortal races because a lot of them do have occult followers?

2. Even if popularity was a factor, not that many people were pissed off by the outlaw of worship of Talos besides for the Nords. You see the primary theory of why he was celebrated as a divine was that he was the founder of the Imperial Empire, and such Imperial Empire wanted everyone to worship him to unite all races. You see, if you read into the lore you see there's a bunch of different deities for each race than the famous 8 divines and Daedric gods, the reason why the whole concept of the 8 divine worship exist was pushed by the Imperial Empire to make all cultures and races under it's rule to have common beliefs, while letting every race to keep some of their own beliefs. Nords liked Talos because he grew up and basically started his leadership there and ingrained in their culture ever since, plus he kicked Elf ass and they admire that after the Great war.

3. Talos had blessings and powers from other divines when he was alive before people worshipped him when he died, I think he was the first dragonborn and had other special powers which gave him an advantage conquering all of Tamerial. It's believed by Lore when Talos died he was given more powers and become one of the Divines because he revolutionized war and governance with his achievements. Talos status as a divine is literally God of War and Governance.

What I think of when 'Thalmor'

It's a lady named Thelma, from a show with gypsies, who pronounce it as 'Felmar'

Interesting how the Elven Muslim belief that Talos Jesus was not a deific figure, but a man, is one of the major things that separates the religious beliefs of the various races Islam from Christianity .

talos achieved godhood, for this i believe that if the white-gold concordat was edited so the nords may pray to ********************** , i think they could have avoided most of the war in skyrim. the rest of the war revolves around this faggot killing his king so he can become the king of skyrim, all he wanted was independence and the right to worship ******************** and hundreds had to die for it
