I think you mean wyverns... There's a difference.

You wanna see a wyvern in the elder scrolls universe? Here. They're called cliff racers. And here's a little song about Saint Jiub, the guy who exterminated the species.
–Jiub gibbed the creatures justly just because they were such dicks
For every racer seen today Saint Jiub has slain six!
The savage mer among the cliffs would hear no beating wings.
Now every man and beast and elf in celebration sings:
He stopped the wing’ed ne’er-do-well
Threw every star in Tamriel
And made a safer Vvardenfell
For Dunmer and their kin!
When the priests said killing fliers was poor reason to anoint
Jiub jumped and punched an eagle just to prove a fucking point:
That things that flew above the land could not be left to live
That birds may flap and bees may buzz but both would fear Saint Jiiiiiub!

Fuck off everyone with the wyvern shit. Bethesda created their own version of a dragon, and they call it a dragon in their own damn game, so it's a fucking dragon. Fuck.

So...
If I make my own version on a cat in a video game, and call it a dog, it's a dog instead of a cat, even if it all the characteristics of a cat, and is clearly not a dog?
Genius!

Actually yes, because its your game and you can call it what you please.

We're talking about undiscovered/mythological species, not preexisting generic beings.

I think what anon meant is that it was meant to look like a dragon, and most people are more familiar with dragons than wyverns. The only difference is that the legs and wings should be separate to really be a dragon, but other than that it's dead on. Of course it's not like they would just make a cat and call it a dog to fuck with us.

Bethesda could call it a goddamn tomato that breathes fire, but it's what it's called in the game that matters. Or do you think all games are 100% accurate?
#150 to #142 - deathhardiv (07/09/2012) [-]
There are dragons
There are wyverns
And there are tomatoes
Getting confused of them is just a sign of being a misinformed asshat
Bethesda clearly did not do their research on the difference
And now you are trying to argue that a game company can just decide to change how mythological creatures that have existed for thousands of years appear
Your argument is a piece of shit, as is your logic

its a game... involving MYTHICAL creatures. let it go its not like anyone cares.

mythological creatures that have existed for thousands of years appear
existed for thousands of years
existed

lol but they dont exist.......whos the asshat now?

Guess what, in the time period which Skyrim is set, which is a really fucking long time ago, in a DIFFERENT UNIVERSE (Nirn, I think) all the locals and every fucking person in the game calls the creature a DRAGON and wyverns appear to be nonexistant.

Bottom line is, Bethesda isn't changing mythology in the slightest, they are showing how their characters IN A GAME are reacting to these creatures and what THE CHARACTERS are calling them. Some characters are racist, but that doesn't make bethesda racist, it makes the CHARACTERS racist.

medieval times, and it's a game, the creators can do whatever they want
stop trying to logic games

I'm sorry, i was trying to explain some sort of reasoning to someone who is being persistently stubborn by trying to change what I'm saying

then ignore them, 5 seconds after they post it's already gone from their minds, just like this will be from mine

Dragons have four legs
Wyverns have two
You are arguing that the 'dragons' in skyrim are really dragons when they clearly do not have four legs

How can you even breathe by yourself?
#181 to #161 - N. Korean citizen (07/09/2012) [-]
I am arguing that the "dragons" in skyrim are called dragons by everyone in the game. It's the name of a made up creature in a game. If you want to get technical, it's a wyvern. But this wyvern is called a dragon in the game. I am using the game's terms. How are you not understanding this?
#140 to #137 - darklit (07/09/2012) [-]
Actually yes, in my game this is a Dog and nothing you say can change that
