Honestly; I've never really been bothered by ads on funnyjunk. The only ads that bother me are those 30 second unskippable ones on youtube. For those I just skip the video. **** you for thinking I'm going sit still for 30 seconds just to watch your ****** video. If I've got to wait 30 seconds for something on the internet it better ******* cure cancer.

to be honest,as soon as i realized that adblock being on for fj was actually bad for income,i turned it off for fj.

Lets rap a bit kids...

Sites are starting to recognize Adblock on their sites and stopping their service until you disable it. Hulu is a prime example. So. Because you guys keep talking about it, spreading it for new people to put it on, websites are going to find a way around it.

So, the first rule of Adblock is that we don't talk about Adblock. Got it?

Ads have never bothered me but I ******* hate it when the ads deceive you on some websites and they're like "DOWNLOAD NOW"
or "PLAY THE VIDEO NOW"

Guys, time to stop.
Polandball is great, and I really liked it that Funnyjunk created Siteball.
But now consoleball, browserball...
And soon, ballball.
Ballcomics about balls.

Seriously, we can't just turn everything into balls, can we?

I had adblock disabled for this site, but **** has the mos invasive ads just popping up, making noise, even occasionally opening new pages on their own...if the ads were a little less invasive I would have it disabled again.

serious question from someone who doesn't understand the way ad-based payment works on sights like this: Doesn't the site still get the money from the ads even if the ads aren't seen due to ad-block? Or does payment actually depend on how often the ad is seen as opposed to how often the ad is displayed (irregardless of whether it can be seen or not)?

It has to do with views, and how many of the viewers clicked the ad.

Imagine you're some company, and you're willing to pay funnyjunk for advertising so that more people know about your product so you can in turn make more money.
Do you:
A) simply rent the adspot like it's a billboard and pay by the hour
or do you:
B) pay by how many times someone actually sees the ad so you know you're getting your money's worth

Billboards and other physical advertisements, I'd imagine, have pay rates that depend on time, but on the internet or TV, software can be used to see whether or not people are actually seeing the ad, otherwise, how do you know the website is putting your ad in a good spot on the page, or if the site gets good traffic, or whatever? The stuff on your screen is data sent to you buy the host, (your cable provider, or the website server,) and since that data is sent to you, and you send data back, the host, and therefore the advertiser, can tell whether or not you saw the ad, and whether or not you clicked on it.

Pay rates are usually something like a fraction of a cent per viewer, and a little more per clicker, and where the viewer IP is from often effects the pay as well. American viewers are usually worth the most, with British in close second, and Canadians usually in third, but it all depends on who the advertiser wants to advertise to, and where the site is based out of or what kind of traffic it's getting. If you're from a country like Botswana or some **** , you aren't worth much.

Source: I got banned for adflying once.
Disclaimer: Adfyling is a little different from site advertising, so some of what I said could be ******** , but rest assured, some of it is true.
