Guys, bear with me here, but what if, what if being a devout Christian is exactly why Mr Rogers was such a good person.

My parish Priest always says that actions speak louder than words - that showing people what it means to be Christian is far more powerful than simply quoting the Bible, and I think Mr Rogers is the perfect example of why this is true.

I'm not thumbing you down because of your opinion.
I'm thumbing you down because you thought your joke with the spoiler was clever.

That's the way Christians were supposed to spread
Preach the gospel, and if it's necessary use words.
Christians were supposed to be such loving people that others would seek out to know what makes them different and maybe try and join htem

Being Presbyterian myself, I can say it's not the style of my religion to particularly assert our beliefs on others. We operate under the "the good shall be saved" rather than "the christians"

That's the way most IRL church leaders I see act. One said Jesus' last message was love each other if you follow one teaching and that's what he thought we should do. I'm not trying to be high and mighty all I'm saying is most church guys aren't the stereotypes I see fed in media.

If heaven does exist then Mr. Rogers and Pope Francis are going to be the only one's that even get in.

There are good atheists and there are good theists.

Your beliefs do not necessarily make you a good person.
He could have easily been just as awesome if he was atheist.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, I'm just saying don't assume he was good JUST because he was religious.

it's weird, i never watched the show, but seeing that clip actually made me tear up. He speaks on such a real level, i'm jealous of everyone who got to grow up with this man.

Or maybe he knew he wouldn't go down well with others, it wasn't in the script, it could leave impressions on the kids that the parents wouldn't want, and he may get fired by the writers.

He's a great guy, but there's more to not speaking about religion on a show than just being a good person.

There's an urban legend floating around out there-- Apparently, one day, Fred Rogers' car was stolen from his driveway. Some days later, it was returned with a note on the dashboard, saying something like "We are so sorry, we didn't know it was your car."

I don't know if this actually happened or not, but I have no doubt that it's plausible.

The show and many other shows like it at the time were indirectly spreading Christian ideals. It was really good because everything had a moral lesson to it while steering away from any religious banter. It's hard to find wholesome entertainment like that nowadays.

The stereotypical insane Christian that always quotes the Bible, hates certain people, and preaches about **** comes from just that. I live in an area of the South where that stereotype couldn't be any truer about, like, 1/3 of the people here. I find that sad because Mr. Rodgers dedicated his work to trying to make a kinder and more accepting world through lessons learned through Christianity, yet there are still some people that use Christianity as a "me vs. you" thing against other religions or social groups, which is not what people like Mr. Rodgers would have wanted.

I kind of like how they brought this show back a little. Except it takes place IN the land of make believe. I think it's called "Daniel Tigers Neighborhood". And it's adorable
