I remember the days when people used to like rage comics, what happened?

I don't know. I still like reading them. They're an easy way for people with no shop skills, but still a funny story to tell, to make comics.

people grew out of it, then the majority of people who picked it back up are 10-13.

personally it has its ups and downs. while the faces are basically a simple way of conveying a feeling or tone of voice, they lack much depth and are used in mostly unfunny situations, so they are basically a cop-out.

Apparently it became internet "cancer", even though there is a unfunny cancerous bandwagon on funnyjunk every 2-3 weeks. It's more because people think that "as other people don't like it I shouldn't like it."
Picture unrelated.

Well FJ gets tired of its fads later on.

Like posting a rainbow during the "dirty-secrets" 4chanwannabe fad.

I guess rage faces are "too old" and somehow 4chan posts are not.
