So how is this show? I've been very negative about it since before Roosterteeth released the first trailer and I've only seen small clips. In particular, how good are the story, characters, and voice acting?
Forget what OP said, ima give you the facts. Some scenes in this show are so poorly done and the animations for them are some times just embarrassingly bad. However, you can tell which scenes had actually work put into them and they shine very brightly. The show is kind of half and half on the animation. The show itself is ok, based on the fact that they just kind of make up the lore as they go while making it. It is a solid 6/10.
its really, good, i thought the same thing as you before seeing it but its definitely worth your time in watching, the story is pretty good so far, the characters and voice acting are great, its pretty professional
cons
- the show has very meh voice acting, even flat-out bad at times
- animation during non-fight scenes can be shoddy
- most of the characters are initially presented as flat stereotypes
- villains seem like stale, generic evildoers (reminded me of team rocket/magma/plasma/whatever in the pokemon games before you learned of their dastardly plans)
- everything is a gun
pros
- animation and choreography is great during fight scenes, even if they disregard physics some/all of the time
- you can actually tell whats going on in most fight scenes
- the music is pretty good
- been a while since i watched it, but the characters seem to grow from the one-dimensional stereotypes they're presented as
- the weapon designs are interesting, even if they sometimes are so far-fetched they break immersion (looking at you, minigun-handbag)
- everything is a gun
not sure why i just typed all that out, but overall i would rate it a 6.5/10
I'm going to point out that a lot of the plot hasn't been revealed yet. Seasons 1 & 2 were world reveal and some character development, but don't let that turn you away. RvB started slow too.
So far: A group of students in a hogwarts-like school that are trained to fight the monsters the roam the world and/or maintain the peace. However there are criminal syndacates that want to ******** up. They steal military equipment and recruit an army of untermensch to assemble their forces.
Lots of kick ass fight scenes, typical school/romance drama, and little comedic moments, and every weapon is also a gun.
