Well, seeing as how RWBY was started by Monty Oum, whom was a GREAT animator and scriptor for his shows, and RWBY has an Animation program it is created in (called Poser), YES ITS ANIME. Knights of Sidonia was made with similar program(s) and that is an Anime.

so just because something is animated means it's anime?

Anime was from Japan first, however. Or at least, the first to release shows in that style. Other countries adopted the style, but they were behind Japan.

the word refers to all animation, being a shortened form of the rōmaji animēshon ("animation")

Yes, but the art style used in anime was originally made by Japanese artists alone. I believe if a show is classified by its audience as an anime, then it's an anime. The genre has expanded so much that there's no point trying to shoehorn restrictions. And even in context of the post, RWBY has licensing in Japan, so it's considered an anime through and through regardless.

the name anime like i just said refers to ALL animation not the ******* art style, like i said weebs made it a jap thing just because they shortened the Japanese word for animation.

i understand what you are saying and how it has became a genre but the word is still just shortened from the word animation meaning that no matter where it is from it can still be called anime if the show is animated, its pretty much like saying people cant be called mohumad because its known to be a Muslim name or swhite girls being called harquisha because it sounds black

This whole thing is kind of like champagne. Technically it isn't champagne if it isn't from France, but only assholes give a **** .
