I don't get how this series is so popular.
I tried sitting through the first season and the only thing worthwhile about it was the music, character/weapon design, and the fight scenes.
Everything else feels like it's been done or done better.
Though I hear the second season is better, I'm not sure if it's even worth sitting through a mediocre first season that feels like a Disney channel sitcom just to get to the possible better second season which might just end up feeling like a cancelled Disney XD show.
Any reasonable fans out there to give me an honest opinion about the show?
We pretty much like it for the music, character/weapon design, and the fight scenes. I don't mind the story line so far. I pretty much hype myself up by what COULD happen or what certain things could mean
Plus, I guess the second season wouldn't take up much of your time. If ya end up liking it the third season should be coming out soonish. Whatever floats your boat.
If you want an honest opinion, I like it, I don't love it. I see it as more of an art though. While the story is nothing special and definitely used before, it still feels refreshing due to the variety of weapons and fighting styles in the fight scenes. The characters, while stereotypical, each have two or more sides to them. This creates more of an involvement than most shows have. 7.8/10 though, too much animation
there's really just the music, weapon designs and fighting animation, really.
the characters are stereotypical, but at least not obnoxiously so.
Story is meh,so far,but there is some foreshadowing.
-story is tolerateble,so far,may get better, may get worse.
-characters are not too special, but eh.
-fight scenes are bitching as ****
-some animations outside of action loof awful
-music is bitchin
-gunblades and rocketjumps and hammers and miniguns. The concept for the action part is rad as hell, and that's pretty much the main selling point of the series
If you don't like it, then that's alright. I find the story quite engaging. Sure it's been done before, and it will be done again and again, with different characters, settings, etc.
Most shows are like some of those weird foreign cuisines. It's all an acquired taste.
Don't have to understand, because even if you did, you still wouldn't find the show interesting. It's just one of those things that is.
they state that Qrow and Ruby are the only two scythe users, because the scythe is the most powerful and aggressive weapon but the hardest to actually use in a fight.
they also state that you don't choose your weapon, it chooses you
The RT team said that they were still working on the third season, but its highly doubtful. Kerry, the former co-writer, has said on his twitter that production has started... on the 6th of July, so if its really being worked on, they JUST started less than two weeks ago.
Also, the video list in the site is ordered by video activity, and every passing day RWBY goes lower and lower. If it reaches that obscure section of RT serieses where PANICS, The Strangerhood, and 1-800 Magic are, well, think thats the time its safe to assume its done for.
Besides, along with being the creator, Oum was the only reason the fighting scenes were so good. He was a master at animating fighting scenes for years. Without him, the rest of the series is going to look like the end of Season 2, from a technical standpoint. And God knows Kerry isn't a very good writer, so uh, without decent writing or the exciting choreography it once had, odds are RWBY is going to flop.
Monty was the writer, lead animator, director and voice actor for multiple characters. Even if they tried to make it, it wouldn't be the same. Even if they hired a new animator and everything, not much you can do for voices
Wasn't the only major character he voiced Ren? And as far as I know, he'd had less to do with actual writing and more general storyline in the second season (and he'd told the others working on it what he had planned for the future).
He was going to, but that role was instead given to some other guy, Shannon McCormick, according to the wiki. Oum only voiced Lei Ren. It is still a main character, though.
