It was originaly free download, hours later Roosterteeth got their hands on it and it went offline as it is now their official RWBY game project.

This is not accurate in the slightest.
The original game was out for I think over 6 months before Rooster Teeth hired the guy to make a full version, because it was originally just a short project he did. This video is of the pre-alpha released for rooster teeth sponsors for a limited time. It was not available for download, it was run through Unity on a webpage ( roosterteeth.com/rwby-prealpha/rwbygame.php ) Still can't play it unless you are a sponsor though.

Apparently some time ago sponsors could play a pre alpha again, maybe someone uploaded it somewhere.

Same guy as the one you replied to.
