Pyrrha's personality was so undefined by the writers at this point. All they knew was "likes Jaune." In S01E04 when she first spoke with Jaune and Weiss, Jaune kept insulting Pyrrha and brushing her off to flirt with Weiss, but Pyrrha was just...okay with it. Not a reaction to be had except to be positive. And then she speared him to a wall at Weiss' request.
And speaking of which...I'm still not sure why "I have to be best in school" Weiss, or anyone at all really, didn't maneuver themselves towards people they liked when falling; Weiss could walk on air with her glyphs, the characters defy all physics when fighting, it wouldn't have been too hard. Weiss should have gone straight for Pyrrha, or just left Ruby to be with Jaune while she stalked off to find somebody new...she already broke the "first see first serve" rule once.
Come to think of it, someone DID try to pair up with a particular person. Nora. And of course Pyrrha did as well (for whatever reason). Weird that Nora would come up with a plan.
Pyrha is used to being liked, admired by everyone couse she is amazing and stuff. its the age old idea that "when all people treat you the same, the one who treats you different will spark your interest". basic storytelling.
spearing him to the wall is a way to show that she is used to live up to others requests/expectations so she does what weiss wants.
a possible reason for why she and others didnt maneuver is 1: people havent seen each other fighting so other than famous folks, people wont know who is good or bad 2: limited ressources. limited amount of ammo/dust means you cant just do whatever you want, especially in a enemy infested forest with no info on where the goal is other than "somewhere around there".
she could have, but she didnt know where pyrrha landed.
and finally, could she? no one said the test would end midway if you didnt join with the first person you saw, in fact its much more likely that there would be some punishment AFTER the test. basically, she knew the rules and even if she didnt like it, her logical mind would most likely tell her "you know they know. you know they have cameras all over the place. just go back to the red clothed girl..."
TL; DR there is an explanation for all, maybe not apparent but subliminal.
Her main reason for liking him is that he brushed her off
He didnt see her as anything more than another student.
Of course i doubt it was love from first sight but after all their time together its not unlikely feelings would have developed, she is the only person hes ever confided in, and she has seen the better part of jaune through their time together and has seen his potential as a great leader
I'll direct everyone to a ******* fantastic fanfic that now exceeds the Bible in length. Better character development, too, and just as many references to ancient mythology.
I watched the first season last week, and I liked it, but I thought the way they set the season up was rather weak. We got no real look at the characters, or combat in general, outside of the team-forming test or whatever, there was no major conflict, just a bunch of hints at Clockwork Orange guy and Jessica Nigri doing suspicious **** , and the season cut off at a really weird point, on an episode I didn't suspect at all was meant to be a finale.
I plan to watch season 2 in the next couple days, and I'm hoping that it's set up stronger. Although with the creator dying, I can forgive if it's stopped abruptly again.
