Most kids wouldn't call their father Juan though.

If youre in a situation where your own blood refuses to send you child support for a long time, I think it warrants calling him by his name, and not father.

Being a child who lived on child support myself, I can honestly say my father was more than happy when I bought something I wanted with his child support cash. It meant to him that we were doing well and he could have a chance to buy me something I wanted instead of always having to just buy what I needed.

What else should she have used it on? Books and calculators and stuff? Just cause her family is having financial issues doesn't mean she shouldn't be able to have some luxuries.

If it's a situation where your own father hasn't sent you child support in a long amount of time, I think it's reasonable.

But that girl is actually the daughter. And I know people who's mothers used their kids child support for alcohol. So I'm inclined to find this okay.

Child Support should be used to support a child......Then again.....Boots do support her when she walks....I'm ok with this too!

If shes the child then why did she state him by name.
And that might be like a teenage and prego girl who would mostly want shoes and a pedicure instead of beer.

My parents got divorced when I was a kid and I refer to my father as "Tony" not dad.

thats weird seeing as most people i know (all are dads are gone pretty much) still call them dad, even the ones that knew them

I'll admit I made a conscious effort to not call him dad, but I'm very good at detaching myself from people. So to detach from someone I barely knew and didn't even like was pretty easy.

A lot of people who don't like a particular parent won't call them "dad" and since she said "finally" i'm guessing Juan wasn't there for her much

You wouldn't believe how many kids with separated parents call the father by his name instead of "Dad".
(Same can go for the mother, but generally the child lives with the mother)

I actually have a half sister who's a few years older than me, my father divorced her mother a few years before he married my mum. And she refers to my dad by his name, mainly because she was still quite young and her mother married again, so that other guy became her dad.

i didnt know my dad till i was 13 and i still called him dad
and my freinds dad abandoned him and knew his name and still called him dad

It's different for everyone I think.
