Guy detonates an ammunition dump worth 5 million dollars (and this is in 1968, so that would cost exactly 30,981,641 dollars today, thanks Inflation Calculator), with a hand grenade (so he couldn't have been THAT far away) and nobody gets hurt at all, and command doesn't find out at all, because he "paid" his fellow Marines 5,000 dollars (which was probably only marginally less than his year salary, by the way) not to tell.
