have you seen an episode? i'm neither brony hater nor a brony and when i was sick once and got up early, it was on TV so i thought "well, if so many people love that series, why shouldn't i watch it?" so i did and it really wasn't bad. and since many people like series that are bad in my opinion, i can understand why people like it.
One of my buddies is a brony, sort of. I asked him why he liked the show and he told me, because it has colorful animation and good character development. I watched it out of curiosity, and it was surprisingly okay. It reminded of other shows that were made by the same writers and animators like The Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Laboratory, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, and even The Iron Giant. My friend said that apparently not every single brony faps to the show. He says that the idiots that do jerk off to it are called "cloppers." I'm guessing that these are the real enemies that we should be fighting.
We simply get so overly attached to the characters. That would explain it pretty well...
All their emotions/feelings and diabetus-giving faces just make us bronies happy.
Long story short, our days are brighter and more joyful than ever.
And please don't make me start about the creativeness and the size of the fandom

People can through a lot of facts at you about, the writing, the animation, the jokes, Etc.
But what I really seemed to like about it was the depth the characters had.
For example.
Let's take rainbow dash here. She is the "tomboy" of the group. Yet when here favorite team known as the wonderbolts comes into town, and she gets to hang with them in the VIP section, she gave out a fan girl cry. When i first watched i did the same thing she did, which might seem a little gay and awkward, and it was. It was a complete WTF moment for a lot of people.
Idk, not trying to change anybody, just giving out my thoughts for the show is all.

You know, I've been noticing a pattern emerging in new cartoons lately. Some newer cartoons are something of a hybrid between shows that are based purely on a linear/sequential story line and the average cartoons that simply transcribe the adventures/misadventures of the main characters. Non-cartoon shows like this often become very popular. It seems to work the same way with cartoons. Supernatural and Pedleton Ward's Adventure Time or The Braves Warriors are good examples of both such shows.
Perhaps it's the wide range of characters. A lot of people can find someone to relate to in the show, and the fandom has taken off with the background characters. It's fun to see the show expand (some of the time, anyway..). Rainbowdash = tomoy
Rarity = girly girl
Pinkie Pie = hyper
Twilightsparkle = nerd/bookworm
Applejack = southern, hard worker
Some have huge aspirations, and they are able to laugh and have fun

I always thought MLP was like an escape route for "nerds'' since videogames became very popular to all.
Like videogames & those who played it used to be made fun of, but now...
MLP is kind of like that except the latter part has yet (or maybe never will) to come.

Shows that have that awkward pause are either on Nickolodeon in the morning or on local programming (at least here in the US). Those shows I don't expect to have a fan base beyond 8 years old.
But there are hundreds of animated, fun and innocent shows out there, yet MLP's is in my opinion the weirdest and most bizarre.
I don't see cars driving around my college campus with Total Drama Island windshield stickers or people walking around with Regular Show bookbags even.
I just don't understand the unique attraction that MLP has.

One thing I have noticed about all this is that the characters in MLP are a lot more defined and have back story, which makes them a lot more relatable then characters from shows like the ones you mentioned. So they fall in love with the characters/character which in turn makes them love the show that much more, this is what I see separates the shows. Just like a lot of the animes out there like naruto which have naruto sasuke hinata sakura etc where people find a favorite and then merchandise is made for it.
Coming from someone who just watches and enjoys the show (no into the whole fetishes or buying of merchandise or any of that crap) I just watch it becasue i find it enjoyable, some may not share that idea and that's their choice, and i sincerely apoligise for the retarded fans.
Think of the fanbase like stoners, Some are quiet about it and just enjoy it, some are public about it but not in your face and others will try to shove it down your throat like it's a religion going out of style, and the first 2 both agree that they'd rather not be associated with the 3rd group

I asked a brony, he said the same reasons to why anyone would like any show. Apparently it's well written, always has a good story, and a good point. I asked, why are bronies so retardedly addicted. I don't see Family Guy fans act like this...
he never responded.
