Humans are animals, animals got instincts. Male animals usually fight to be the alpha male while some stay as beta males. War is basically just an advanced version of that.

You'd think we got past that by now.

Not everyone are born with a sense of of compassion. Actually feeling sorry for others is an ability that most people lack and will never learn. This world basically rewards the sociopaths. Did you know that most CEO:s shows signs of being sociopaths? That makes them drive the company better.

I honestly didn't know they were sociopaths, but it makes sense now that I think about it.

Not all of course, but it's a trait that is quite common.
