Why must people use quotes out of context?
When Lauren Faust said "There's more than one way to be a girl" she was talking about how all girls have different personalities, how there's not just one set way a girl should have to act. She wasn't making a statement one way or the other about lesbians/gays.
Being gay, I have nothing against gays or lesbians I just don't like seeing quotes like this taken out of context.

Also nowhere in the show is it ever even hinted that RD is gay. I wouldn't mind if they made her gay or introduced a gay character, but to say that she is gay without any reason other than the fact she is rainbow or acts tom-boyishly is a bit silly.

I'll take my red thumbs now, i just wanted to get that out there.

They're using it out of context, yes, but for a good cause. Faust herself is fine with lesbians, so even if that's not what she meant with that specific quote, it still sounds pretty and doesn't misrepresent anyone-although the RD pic might, depending on your interpretation of her sexuality. It's like Robin Hood, luvie.

It completely goes against what she was saying though. The quote was supposed to mean there's more than one way to express herself and personality. But this interpretation just clumps her in with a stereotypical homosexual. It's like saying a girl can either be straight or gay, which is exactly what the quote wasn't going for.

I don't see how it implies that. "More than one way" seems to me more likely to encourage multiple options than suppress it to any stereotype.

"I'm not gay for liking a show for girls, but Rainbow Dash is a lesbian because she is a tomboy"

I am confused by the brony logic.

The thing about "strong women" is that they act like guys. Not like average guys, like asshole guys, the kind of guy that average women complain about. Actual strong women don't refer to themselves as strong women.

Who here likes Spongebob? A show about a squirrel that loves science, a retarded starfish that shows 'gay' qualities and is friends with a sponge,a girlish sponge that shows 'gay' qualities,a money-grubbing crab that hates anyone that doesn't pay him who has also had a whale for a daughter and completely forgot about the mother,a boring squid that hates his life and most other people although he is all wrapped up in himself, and a plankton that is MARRIED to a robot computer, and this show is focused around kids in ages 4-8.I myself love Spongebob and see no problem with it.The same with MLP.

We were 4-8 when we started watching spongebob.
There isn't a large group of 20 year olds who just started watching Spongebob a month ago and formed into a sub-culture out to prove that guys can watch gay things without being gay.

my family knows i'm a brony (i'm female but prefer the term "brony"). i was explaining it to my mom one day and made her watch an episode. she simply knows dashie as "The dyke pony." i've tried to explain to her that she is not necessarily gay (there wouldn't be anything wrong with it if she was) but dash will now forever be "the dyke pony."
