i've never watched the show but for me this is ridiculous.

if you're a good parent you should be secure that your kids will grow up right no matter what show they watch. i mean look at ED from ED, EDD and EDDY he's probably more retarded than any cartoon character but they never changed his name and no parent complained about him. look at Johnny from the same show, HE TALKS TO A ******* PLANK OF WOOD but in the show he's much more accepted by the other characters than eddy or double d.

Oh and don't forget Baboon from "I am weasel" or Dag from "The angry beavers" and not to mention Ren and Stimpy, That whole show just shouts "HURR DURR HERPA DERP"
but no one ******* complained about it and everybody loved that show.
what the hell is wrong with parents today? they think everything will "ruin their child".
are they that insecure of their children's understanding? They think that they have control of everything today. They're giving their kids an idea that they could get whatever they want if they complain enough about it. good luck raising a kid like that.

MFW Hasbro claims Derpy teaches kids to ridicule the handicapped, because pulling her would teach them that they should be ignored and kept hidden, which is going to lead to the kids being mean to the retards in their classes. Also, everyone loved a character as a kid on this site who was dumber and more offensive than Derpy, and usually a main character, too. Mine was Patrick :/

Dear bronies, you are quite confused
With how our friend Derpy is used.
We do not mock low intellect
Nor poke fun at mental defect.
The clumsy moves that Derpy makes
Remind us of our own mistakes,
Teaching us to laugh and say,
"I'll get it right another day!"

I don't like ponies at all, but i'm with you guys on this one. Pulling Derpy just teaches we should run from problems and not accept them.

Okay. Let's all ask me. (A high functioning mentally handicapped person) how much Derpy offends her.
None, none at all.
She makes me giggle, like Cheese did from Fosters Home For Imaginary Friends.

If anything I suppose the raise the awareness of mental disabilities and I think it provides comfort to those with mental disorders. It's sorta giving a message that says. "Even though you may be different, doesn't mean you can't live life to the fullest."

But now dumbass soccer moms say it's offensive. Probably don't even have a child with a disorder, and if ever was face to face with a child like that. She'd be judgmental and then ask them to control their kid. Like they do to my mom. (I also have a low functioning sister with autism)
/rant over.

(I wrote this comment somewhere else, but it fits in here too, so i decided to post it here as well - just my opinion about the issue as a whole)

I thought about the whole thing... and i got ******* angry. More than angry. I raged like all hell broke loose inside of me. I want to beat the living **** out of those ignorant ***** that caused this whole mess.

The only thing here that is offensive is the fact that they PERCEIVE her to be mentally disabled (which she is not, but they are too dumb to realize that) and that makes them wanna hide her, just put her down like that will make everything go away. What does this tell us about their view of the people that actually are mentally handicapped? Do they wanna kill them too, so they don't have to see them? Don't have to interact with them?

Even IF, and i stress the IF, she was mentally disabled, that would just be one more reason why she should stay the way she is! Because she INCLUDES them in something, everyone has a cartoon character to which he or she can relate. Mentally disabled people have (most of the time) not. The result? They feel excluded, which is apparently what society nowadays does to "help" them. Or rather, help themselves so they don't have to be reminded of their existence.

I cannot express how angry this makes me. Those ******* IGNORANT PRICKS... God dammit...

Rant over. I will go destroy something now, to prevent my head from bursting into flames.

I'll never get frikin parents. They're so much crap that kids are exposed to nowadays, and this is what they are woried about? Drugs in the schools, murder ever other day in the towns, and they are worried about their kids being exposed to such a lovable character as derpy. **** Logic.
