"derpy wasn't change because of anything"
"derpy was changed because"

Are you ******* kidding me?

But, to address what you've simplified the argument to above:

1. I preferred Derpy's original voice, but I can see the logic behind making her sound more female. I just wish the voice acting had been done better. As it is, it sounds rushed.
2. Minor legal thing. Very unlikely, as explained in the Reddit article.
3. Her eyes are still crossed, but not nearly as much, and not so much that a first time viewer would notice. She's still technically derped, but far less so.

I know that this whole thing will ultimately blow over, but I just hope that everyone tries to remain calm throughout it.

You're right, you can't copyright a word, but you can trademark it. I know that Gene Simmons has trademarked the terms OJ and Axe (referring to a guitar)

Thank you, it is good to see the story from the other side. Hopefully Hasbro is willing to overlook some of our more... zealous and hot-headed members, and continue to give us the attention that we desire.

Bronies complained about people not seeing them in the correct light, but recent actions of some of us can only hurt our identity. Hopefully, we can set the image right again, with time.

You, good sir, deserve a medal. I have no medal reaction pics, but if anybody has one reply to this with it on behalf of me.

If her name is copyrighted, I wouldn't mind her name to be changed, it was Ditzy Doo afterall... But don't change her voice or eyes!!!

That made me laugh about the fanbase.
For a while, a lot of people hated Derpy's voice for how male it sounded.

As soon as it's changed to girly? "RAAA WE WANT DERPY BACK SHE IS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT THE VOICE GIVE IT BACK"

Da fuq.

Can you honestly imagine Trey Parker and Matt Stone making a copyright claim over the word derp? They made a whole episode attacking the music industry over piracy and copyright. I can however agree about the voice.
